There is continuing debate amongst the high and mighty of government, football and police about the 'productiveness of the"Offensive Behaviour at Football" bill. A piece on the subject by Graham Spiers in the Herald this morning was doing quite well until the inevitable...
" The Ibrox support, who were once at the heart of this sectarianism debate, have not only gone a long way to cleaning up their act, but are also now engaged and pre-occupied with a far greater concern - the ongoing survival of their club. "
Sorry, but this is bollocks. Spiers must read the hate-filled sites these idiots spout their sectarian shit on. Did he not see the 'proud to be a proddy' party at Ibrox a few short months ago. Talk to any fan who attends lower league matches that involve playing SevCo and ask them if those SevCo fans have 'cleaned up their act'. Tell the people of Dunfermline, Brechin, Forfar, Methil, Stenhousemuir and the rest how those fans have changed and that the cries of 'ya fuckin taig scum' and 'dirty fenian bastards' that have been screamed at them and their children in the ground and on the street is the behaviour of people who have 'cleaned up their act'....
Yet more pandering from the media toward a support that has been allowed to disgrace this country for decades. Their covering up and refusal to report this problem properly has allowed it to grow and fester. If people like Speirs had been honest from the start and given publicity to their sickening abuse of ordinary football fans then maybe.....maybe, this shameful problem could have been rooted out of football long ago.
The sickening philosophy that Ibrox is a shrine to, has it`s roots deep within society and the establishment and is a much larger problem that will need a lot more than an 'offensive behaviour' bill to remove from Scottish society.
