I know said he's no thinking about a new contract just now but double his wages or whatever you can, add a min fee release clause if it's the only way to get him to sign a new deal.

I can't see him signing one, but I hope we are pushing the boat out. If he goes this window we're absolutely fucked.

agreed, it’s got to be a priority for our DOF.

I think Clarke will want him settled and scoring goals for Hibs and Scotland.

He won't go this window, we just can't afford to let him go, can't see him signing a new deal, can't really blame him either.

No way he'll sign a contract. He wouldn't two years ago so why would he now?

Got a feeling may lose him in this window, if we do we are really up shit street.

He’s here to the end of the season then he’s gone - no way will the club an asset to run down their contract again.

If the club let him go in this window it will more than cement the view that they care more about what happens off the pitch than on it…

I'm comfortable that it's in both player and clubs best interests to keep after January.

No danger hes' here after the summer though. We know that now, the new DoF should be working on the replacement before he (KN) leaves the club.

He has more of a chance of getting into the Scotland squad regularly at Hibs.

Agreed. However, if he's tapped this month we know he'll ask for a move....

If we don’t sign anyone we are anyway 😩

Chin up Joe. We are better than a few teams.

Morphed from jack k 🤣

January is the window of the desperadoes trying to bolster a team to get promoted or to avoid relegation.
As a result the transfer fees for quality players come at a premium.
If such a desperado offers us £5 million now for Nisbet Hibs would have to take it rather getting half of that in the summer.
Until Saturday I thought he would have to prove himself for the rest of the season to move in the summer but his goals two games in a row have been exceptional and that will have been noted by clubs recruitment departments up and down the country.
The odds are still heavily on him being here until summer. 2 weeks till the window closes.

Steady, I said some! Not the bottom 9 since the world cup that arent called St Mirren or Livi and others. :)

We are desperados trying to avoid relegation.

We will never get £5m but the transfer fee should be measured against the outcome of relegation in comparison of what we could recieve in the summer anyway. IF there was to be such bids.

Agreed, Nisbet isn’t daft, he’s leaving things up to his agent.

£5 million for a desperado English team isn't out of the question.
Get that money and we could keep Porteous until summer.
As I say it's very unlikely to happen.

No chance whatsoever any English club is bidding £5mill for Nisbet considering what he'll be earning, not an established International pick and just returned from serious knee injury.

Have to agree. Celtc are getting £3m for the Greek gadge whos away to China. We would be delighted to get similar.

Celtic will need to replace him won’t they…

English Prem, Champ & Div One clubs can easily rattle off a good few mill if needed but only where it is viable and no clubs in Scotland ooutsidethe obv two meet that standard.

Nisbet was very clever with his reply regarding a new contract. Putting it all on his agent, as he should do. Across the city, Rowles just signed a 5 year deal, even though his World Cup performances have probably put him in the shop window. Why has he signed? Hearts have the 3rd best squad & so look like they’ll secure European football again, & will most probably keep strengthening their team. No doubt there will be a clause allowing him to leave, but unless a big club come in offering him big money, he’ll be happy with his new improved contract until then. Now we could possibly offer Nisbet a new improved deal with a cut off the transfer fee included, & so he can enjoy his football on a big wage until the time is right for him to leave. Unfortunately, unless we go out & sign quality this window, I don’t think he’ll want to hang about in a mediocre team. Nobody can blame him.

Pretty much the same response Porto gave for months before announcing he was off. Apart from an instant wage rise Nisbet now has very little reason to sign a new deal. He's after the set himself up for life contract next and that won't be here.

He is, he’d score for fun there too… no that I want him to go there like, but it’s bound to be a possibility this summer.

Goalscorers like Kevin are as rare as Hens teeth.

Probably, and sadly, yeah. Keeps the scoring up he will imo head west come the summer. The way Celtc play would be ideal for him too. Huns about to say bye to the gremlin morelos also.

It's Japan he's away to for £3.5 million

Apologies. No a bad Korea move for him.

Correct he’s looking for the big money move, & quite rightly so. The problem he may have, is there’s proven quality all around England. Nobody down south rates Scottish players or our league. It’s only The Old Firm that seem to get top dollar for players moving on. The move he’s looking for may not come immediately, & so securing a lucrative contract with us would suit both parties, & we’d get the best out of him until the time came that suited him to leave. The only slight chance of that is as I said, we show we mean business with recruiting strongly this window & targeting European football. Very slim chance at the moment to be fair though.

RED-HOT striker Kevin Nisbet is back on Celtic’s transfer radar.

SunSport can reveal the Hibs hitman’s return to goal scoring form and fitness — following nearly ten months out with injury — has impressed Hoops chiefs.

They face losing Giorgos Giakoumakis this month, and a move for South Korean forward Cho Gue-sung has stalled.

Celts were interested in Scotland cap Nisbet in 2021 before his cruciate tear and now seven goals in just six matches since his return have rekindled that interest.

The Hoops’ recruitment department are examining game-play data to ensure he is fit enough to cope with Ange Postecoglou’s high-tempo game.

Nisbet, 25, is entering the final 18 months of his Hibs deal, and boss Lee Johnson is desperate for club chief Ron Gordon to tie him down long term.

A fully fit Nizzy is also great news for Scotland boss Steve Clarke.

Clarke and No 2 John Carver spent the weekend taking in Premiership and Viaplay Cup action as they begin to sharpen focus on players for the home Euro qualifiers against Cyprus and Spain in March.

Nisbet, who has ten caps, is guaranteed to be involved on current form.

Giakoumakis is the subject of a transfer tug of war with Urawa Red Diamonds, Sampdoria and MLS side Atlanta United at the forefront.

Reports on newsnow saying celtic wanting him... its been on the cards for a while. Certain folk in the media seem desperate to take him away from us. We'll be lucky if we get 2 million and a sell on.. plus im sure we need to pay his previous club money.

Just wait for the lowball offers to start trickling in. What was it, 4 in the end with SJM? And they still didn’t land him. Trouble is shit like that will massively unsettle KN 🙄

Just the usual pish from the weedgiemeejia.
They’ll tout him as a half million player then a 12 million quid prospect before the ink is dry on the Weedge contract.

Stinks.

Fuck them. 5 mill and they can have him. 3 mill and he's loaned back to us for the remainder of the season.

If no, then they can come back in the summer

Absolutely don't think it's much of a secret he wants a move along the M8 at some point.

They took their time. Cvnts

What gets me is the constant attempts to unsettle hibs and thier players. You have shankland on 20 goals this season but nothing is mentioned about him.. our striker hits a few goals and suddenly he's in the paper as the best player in scotland and celtic or rangers must sign him ect .... they did this with boyle
