Things that I really dont get.
Like,
Taking the ball into the corner to waste time?
The falling around holding the face when someones hand hits the chest?
Why referees put up with players in their face at a decision?
My favourite......the 'keeper is coming up for the corner'. Why? Is he really the best header of a ball in that team?
Last man!!!! This one gets me every time.
Took one for the team. No. He committed a professional foul and should be having an early bath.
He's entitled to go down........
He felt a touch.....

Must be many more.
Which one gets your blood pressure rising uncontrollably?

That's a simple answer... Cheating! And cheating being encouraged and explained away by managers and pundits.

A defender shielding and ushering the ball out for a goal kick. For me if he hasn't touched the ball then it's not "his" and it should be obstruction.

The rule which means players have to back off the keeper when he's kicking from hand. Why?

Linesmen waiting on a nod from the referee before flagging - do your jobs FFS! It's even worse since VAR.

Subs & backroom staff running on the pitch to celebrate a goal. We're seeing that more & more often (it was rife during the World Cup). Get that to fuck! Entering the field of play without permission should be an automatic booking.

Hand ball in the penalty box being a penalty.....no player deliberately handles the ball in the penalty box, so it shouldn't be a penalty. They are all accidental.

There was contact in the box, so he was entitled to go down....no he wasn't. He was cheating to get his team a penalty.

They mystery of why five substitutes are not enough to have one goalie amongst them.

Another mystery is how players have to be continually 'rested' these days when the (supposedly unfit) players of the past could often manage to play huge amounts of games in squads of 13-15 players all season long on gluepots and with a diet of pints and woodbines and a trainer with a bucket of cold water and a sponge.

Pretty much except keeper at corners, he has an extra 2 ft with his arms and hands AND your not allowed to touch him- no brainer

So if a defender dives stopping the ball from going in ,saving a goal with their hands, that's not handball?

Yes it is.
But when the hell does that ever happen ?
Actually, John Greig done that in the 1973 Scottish Cup Final.
Nothing happened to him....he stayed on the park.
Celtic scored with the penalty.

Keeper up for corners . Another body to mark, likely to be the tallest player.
And has worked many a time whether scoring or causing issues in the box .

Zander Clark at ibrox for example

A team gets a free kick and an opposition player stands in front of the ball until the ref tells them to GTF.Just book them.

Players who roll the ball forward a little bit with the sole of their boot while they're deciding where to pass it, totally unnecessary, never used to happen

Bryan Gunn at East End Park. Headed an assist for our very late equaliser.

The defender one annoys me as well.

The goalie is deemed to be in control of the ball until he has actually kicked it if doing so from hand so a player being close to him is committing obstruction.

You're probably right, though I think he did get his head on a corner just before the equaliser
I think he spent a while in the Dunfermline half, before the goal was scored

I do that, if I get time to reach the ball I've got time to roll it forward and give myself a space for a step.

One that gets me, players who steal an inch at a corner kick.
Seriously, there's no place close to that quadrant that gives a different angle to one you can get on the inside.
Totally pointless.

Also, how hard is it for a referee and linesman to coordinate a throw in. Nobody should be able to steal yards. We were taught to throw from inline with the referee or linesman.
Surely between the pair of them in either half it's doable.

The simplest way to stop the throw in nonsense is have marks say every 5 yards all the way up the line. Give the players a 5 yard leeway and if you step over that it's a foul.
Edit: Nah fuck them, 3 yards.

Blocking a quick free-kick is a yellow card offence I’m sure, if not it should be, it’s exactly what refs in rugby do and it works very well.. punishment wise. It would turn into a pen in rugby.. possibly sin bin for 10 mins… The most basic of stuff that refs in football are utterly useless at is the most annoying thing, stealing lots yards at throw ins, letting players away with stopping quick free quicks, ball goes out 1 yard from corner flag and throw in always 10 yards further forward, free kicks same place and same story, these yards are in crucial areas yet nothing!! Foul throws? Christ sunday amateur is more strict and consistent. Subbed out injured player to go off ay nearest edge of pitch.. 🙈🙈🙈
Simple but massive in basics, that is exactly the reason the players resort to cheating in every way.
Which brings me to Paul Mcginn getting booked for trying to take a quick throw in from wrong place.. should’ve been taken, now, EVERY SINGLE TIME.. that’s a retake… nope a yellow card and huns got the throw in 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ is that even in the rules?
But it’s different to what I’m saying previously, he hasn’t been told where to take it from so he couldn’t have ignored the ref, when ref tells you to take it and you steal more and more yards that does ma heehaws in.
Mystery rant over… Its just basic compliance to the rules that refs ignore when it suits them, that’s the mystery.. but i think we know why
