I would like people to know that I lost my Hearts-supporting mate this morning, Finlay Mackenzie. I met Finlay almost sixty years ago when I started work in the Edinburgh Ctystal works at Abbeyhill. He was a genuinely good guy, with never a bad word to say about anyone, and equally, never a bad word was said about him, Jambo or no. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, Margaret and his close buddies, of whom I am very proud to be one. Rest in peace, Fin.

What started as a very sad day has ended with a quite remarkable demonstration of sympathy for a very good friend of mine, and so I will gladly pass on your comments to Fin's family and friends. Thank you.

Not all the good guys are Hibs.
