Murray showing better feet on clay

After winning his first ever clay tournament he's made it two consecutive clay finals by getting to the last day of the Madrid Open. Has to play the master of clay to win it but nonetheless it is progress for him on his least favoured surface :thumbgrin

BBC Sport - Andy Murray to face Rafael Nadal in Madrid Open final
I think the clay used to cause him back problems, was never entirely at ease on it IMO.
But he does seem a different player since he has fully recovered from his back op.
Nadals confidence has taken a battering of late, so we shall maybe see how this affects him and how far Murray has progressed on this surface.
An interesting final

Playing superb so far! These days Nadal just seems to get himself back to a level of fitness to win at the French open and then ends up sitting out injured for most of the remaining season? Could Murray topple him at Roland Garos?

Indeed. Well done Andy Murray.

Though I have to add , Nadal is not a shadow of the player he was 2 years ago. The numerous injuries have taken their toll on him.

Of course, but it's more of the fact Murray has won 2 clay court titles in the space of a week, he had never won a title on clay before.
But also in sayng that about Nadal, Murray was at his very best in destroying him, played brilliant

I wasn't really disagreeing with you about Andy Murray. To beat a man with so many clay court titles to his name is an excellent performance.

Saw a wee factoid last night: There's more folk alive who have walked on the moon (8) than beaten Nadal on Clay (4)
