Hibs legend on the park. However, he was a terrible Hibs manager got lucky at Killie and found out again for how poor a manager he is at Finland and now Dundee Utd who were only 1 point off bottom when he got the job. Amazes me that some Hibby's still think he should have been given more time...

You're probably right K.

The only mitigating factor for his performance since joining the Arabs is, they lost McKay Steven, Armstrong & Ciftci.

Like us losing Cummings, McGinn & Henderson.

But as you say, his CV doesn't look too clever.

I've a feeling that all Uniteds woes centre around McNamara and the contract he had with a cut of player sales.

Mixu isn't ruthless enough I think, though. He's been badly undermined today too.

As a person I like Mixu but felt at ER he was as he is at Dundee Utd totally out of his depth. He won't be their manager next season and you get the impression he might not be for much longer...

United's plight mirrors that of Hibs to a large extent - sell their best players to balance the books, replace them with journeymen, failure to reinvest, quality of football deteriorates, attendances plummet, relegation. I think Mixu is merely a stooge in United's case though and may not stick around for the major rebuilding job in the Championship. Can hardly blame him for taking them down as the ship was already holed before he took over.

He certainly does not have a great track record but to be fair to him with DU job, they were in free fall when he took the reins and he has hardly had much backing resources wise from the board it seems?
I also think Utd have resigned their selves for Championship fitba next season, he was doomed to start with IMO.

Like a few former Hibs managers recently, the job was to big for him

If the games we have played this season against SPL opposition had been in their league, we would have 13 points...1 point fewer than utd with 20 games in hand on them :bbb:

People giving to much credit to Mixu cos he took over a sinking ship - in October!

By your reckoning Colin Calderwood is a great manager cos he took over a sinking ship around the same time with all our best players sold but instead of a relegation battle we ended the season really comfy.

Giving credit and mentioning mitigating circumstances are not the same thing - and I didn't see Calderwood's name mentioned anywhere else.

Football managers are a funny breed.

Most would have taken over the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.

Mixu is shuffling the deck chairs.

He wouldnt by a duck so Fukk um.

4/5 football managers are appointed because last guy was a dud, if mixu can't turn the ship it's cos he's not got the skills to motivate players, recruit & get rid in January and judging from what I've seen of Dundee United this season organise a team into a recognisable shape.

In saying that, while they've done a Hibs - sell their best players and recruit mince on pitch & dugout, that Macnamara % deal was an absolutely horrendous decision by the board. It's like Hibs selling McGinn and Cummings to Ross County, then finding out Alan Stubbs personally profited from the deal after we're papped in the final.

Thomson signed the club's spl death warrant with that statement yesterday. Players will down tools, it's over for them.

What do you know about it?
Something learned from 'Football Manager' I suppose.
:tuttut:

Terry Butcher gave Thomson the benefit of his experience and advice on man management.
I'm sure it will all work out in the end......:lookaround:

Wasn't his 1st interview pretty much claiming they're all shite players? Buck passing all round at Tannaddeechie.

Shame cos the lad is legend. 6-2.

He brought in 7 players in Jan. They are going down with a big wage bill. Let's hope we are not still down to play them next season but I reckon they'll struggle....

It's quite ironic as many Hibby's believe Mixu was given a raw deal and his replacement Yogi was a dud. I think the proof now suggests Hughes is the better manager. Indeed it was Hughes Dundee Utd wanted but wouldn't pay ICT the 300K compensation. Wish we had told ICT to GTF over compensation mind....

I have no argument with any of that - but I still fail to see where anyone gave him credit - or mentioned Calderweed

No one mentioned calderwood but me. It was you who said mixu was blameless cos he joined a sinking ship. So did calderwood join a losing team. He signed us great players for free like Palsson and Vas Te who went on to great things and gave us a very comfortable 'top of bottom six' position. Mixu has signed gash this window and they're going down without a fight. Don't let a hatrick 15 years ago blind you to his shiteness as a manager.

Seriously?

Vic started off looking like a player, but after Goodwin made him cry he turned out to be worth every penny of his transfer fee.
Vaz Te was a one-trick pony at Hibs. No doubt a talent, but he couldn't be arsed showing much of it to us. Basically another couple of no-marks who did little for the jersey, not even giving it sweat stains.

I'm certainly not blinded by his hattrick - takes more than that to get my eyes watering! And by "can hardly blame him" I mean he can't be given all the blame for the team's slide - I already gave my thoughts on the reasons for that. But fitba managers only really get jobs now when a team's in freefall so he's made his bed I guess.

Yes, United as a club are $#@!ed, its Hibs of three years ago, but they still beat the paeados.

They arrogant delusional Gunts are currently punching above their weight but think they should be doing better. Gunts are now turning against Nielson. Let's hope they implode. Their season is over.

watched most of the Dundee Utd game on bbc alba just to see captain caveman's sour puss after the 88th minute winner

His hatrick against the Herts was ok; but what was quite remarkable was his following cart-wheel celebrations, where minor earth tremors were reported in Leith....
