Purple & Green

The games don't half come around quick, St Mirren away and teatime Saturday night football. After this game though, we head for an international break. I'm not sure it's really much of a break for the players with around half of them off on international duty. Keiran getting a well earned break might not be the worst thing.

Myself and @Green&Purple will be venturing up on the train, so hopefully see a few of you there.

St Mirren have been a stuffy well organized team over the last year or so, so I expect more of the same. I know we've too much for them if we fire on all cylinders, but we just haven't really done that domestically this season for reasons that I'm not sure I fully understand.

As far as the team goes I suspect a few changes:
If I get this team right, then I'll do subs next time out.

Sallinger
O' Hora - Hanley - Rocky
Mulligan-Barlaser-Chaiwa-Obita
McGrath
Bowie-Klidje

Bench looks to have plenty on it, I think Hoillett and Boyle could be the match turners. Being able to bring the Caddens on is evidence of our strength in depth. I think the current conundrums are how to get Rocky and Hanley on together (it's a no brainer with St Mirrens robust footballing style) and how to get Mulligan off the wide area into the middle. Smith is maybe unlucky, but I feel Sallinger distributes far better.

I'd like it if Hibs didn't concede in the 45th+ or 90th+ minutes. I mean really really like it.

I suspect we'll be in yellow, but I'm much more confident if we aren't wearing green socks.

It's been awfy mild through this part of the country last couple of days, very pleasant for November.

As always though, that's my thoughts, I'm more interested in hearing yours

Interesting having Rocky on the left - those who see more of Hibs can judge better than me though. Otherwise, I wouldn’t change that line-up and as you say the bench is strong with potential impact players. As for socks, yellow if they must wear that strip but white if playing in green!

Four draws and three defeats to St Mirren last seven games? I didn't realise that. Will that change?
No matter how strong the squad looks on paper it has to perform. Another draw for me.

As much as I love him, Iredale has been positionally woeful a few times this season, and cost us the first goal away to Livvy last week, I would mostly go with the team @Purple & Green put out, but I don't think we should (or will) risk O'Hora against St Midden after an injury.

I would go with :

Sallinger
Rocky, Hanley, Obita
Mulligan, Barlaser, Chaiwa, Beardy
McGrath
Bowie, Klidje

Use of subs could be crucial here, especially Boyle, Hoilett and Youan, would also be nice to see Joe Newell on the bench, but I think after the international break is more likely for that. Any news on injuries to Levitt / Manneh ?

Hibs have had a terrible record against St Mirren in recent years, and it's about time that ended with a win tomorrow.

Been impressed with Saints this season and last season to be honest.
They look very well organised and physically strong, with pace, and some good creative players in their team as well.
The only thing they really lack is a reliable goalscorer, although they dismantled Motherwell at Hampden last Saturday without too much trouble.
All this reflects well on their excellent manager Stephen Robinson.

Hibs have stuttered along in the league since we went out of Europe IMO.
I think we have struggled with coming to terms with the nature of our exit from Europe, and then have been unable to reproduce the same intensity and concentration we showed during that all too brief European sojourn in our domestic league matches.
Our game management has been terrible for a long time, and until that changes we will toil to win any game.
Most matches in our league are tight and close fought, because the harsh reality is that outside the Old Firm there is barely a ba'hair between all the other teams.

Hibs must start winning games on a regular basis very soon, because at the moment we look very much a mid-table outfit at best.
A win tomorrow would hopefully get us on a good run and try to establish us first of all as a top six team....then hopefully better as the season draws to an end next Spring.
We need a few players in during January though, even on loan.
We also need to see several of our good performers from last season....the likes of Iredale, the Caddens, Rocky, Boyle etc up their collective games because they have not played at anywhere near the form they showed last season so far this term.

1-0 Hibs.

They will have their tails up having got to the LC Final, irrespective of that, it’ll be hard game, agree with machine a low scoring win for the Hibbees.

I think you could include the Old Firm in that this season. Neither of them are much cope compared tae previous seasons.

Sallinger. Now owns the gloves.
Ohora,hanley,iredale
Chaiwa. Mulligan. Barlaser N Cadden
Chaiwa and N Cadden wide (s)
McGrath
Bowie Klidje
they wont handle Thibault’s pace IMO
No hoofball pls, we’ll be fine 🤔

We’ve got a terrible record there, and a poor record overall against St Mirren, I feel if we turn up tomorrow trying to do the same thing we have been in the last couple of games it’ll play right into their hands.

They play a back five, have midfielders who will run all day, and have two strong forwards… horrible to play against. I’d like to see Hibs try something different:

Salinger
C. Cadden O’Hora Hanley Iredale
McGrath Mulligan Chaiwa N. Cadden
Klidje Boyle

Something else worth noting about this season so far is Hibs much improved disciplinary record.
Might be wrong here, but I don't think we have had a player sent off yet.
That's great to see, but I hope I haven't jinxed us for tomorrow !

I think tomorrow will be tough; St Mirren are a handy and hardy team, who I think would give most in the league a run for their cash. Stephen Robinson knows what he’s doing.

Like the look of Smurfs team but I think Bowie will be an important option and just hope to Mulligan is kept through the middle where he’s most effective.

Looking forward to it, especially a wee visit to SMWS Weeg for a wee dram or two with my auld boy and a mate before the game… just for some warmth for the game of course!

Going to be a very difficult game that’s for sure, they are flying at the moment and booked themselves into a final also. Robinson is a great manager and sets up teams so difficult to beat, yet they also play fast attacking football.

We have hit a slump and we are not competitive enough for long parts in the game.

Mulligan has to be in the middle. But I think we line up the same team as Livi with possibly O’Hora coming back in as the only change.

I would be happy with a draw, but I want all three points.

Aye, I noticed that almost every yellow during the Rangers game, Sky were displaying a "First booking of the season" stat next to our players names.

Funny that they'd all start fouling during that one eh?

As for this one... I'm sensing another frustrating draw sadly. Hope I'm wrong and we can get the win, but I'm not sure the "hoof it to the fast lads" tactic we deployed against Livi is going to work against a team as defensively disciplined as St Mirren.

Last time I watched them play us they all looked incredibly tall. I fear for waves of aimless crosses into their box. Hope we mix the play up and keep them guessing.
I'd like to see Megwa start Mulligan has to be more central. Barlaser will have to up his game if included, got a feeling Josh Campbell will figure in some point. Anyway we're overdue a win against them. GGTTH.

He played left of a pair for the longest time and really didn't have his best time.
If that comes about I hope he just keeps it simple.
Having a lefty over there allows us the opportunity to drive from defence. If hes doing it from the left he's running in field, it's scary 😅

Still think Mulligan at wing back takes us backwards, gotta figure that midfield out with him included.
He's no better than Cadden out in that spot, he struggles to contain his man too.
Wasted.
