Mancs v Inter

Well done citeh and congrats to probably the best manager there’s ever been 👏👍

Apart from Eddie Turnbull obviously 🤪

Shite.

I turned it off. Watched the 1% Club. Got pissed off at going out at the 25% question and went back to game. Watched the rest... Wished I hadn't.

Wasn’t a great game for 67mins but last 25 were ok. A bit against the grain but it’s good to see city win and take the treble. Imagine being foden right now living the absolute dream! Lukaku best curt defender in the 2nd half what a block and then miss

Lot of shite and just modern day fishing for likes. This is football now, need to accept it and move with it. Big teams will get bigger that’s the way it is. A Leicester scenario is unlikely for a whole IMO

It was that exciting I turned over to the 1% Club at 55mins. Got pissed off about going out at the 25% question. Switched back to notice M(Oney)FC were 1-0 and was struck by how little I gave a a shit.

Me and the misuss put Smiley Smile on the turntable and played Scrabble while sinking some gin.

Don't think I missed much.

Looking forward to Hibs games starting again.

Best manager with 100’s of millions of pounds to spend. Has he ever built a team from scratch? Nope… at least Fergie done it a few times AND the sheep were the last team to beat RM in a final… It’s all Context.. imo jumping into near ready made teams with untold riches all the time don’t equate it for me

Didn't enjoy the game....congratulations to City though. Their goalkeeper ultimately saved the day for them against a well organised but toothless Inter Milan who lacked any sort of cutting edge up front.
Manchester City are the wealthiest football club in the world and can basically sign any player they want and get whatever manager they want.
With that as a backdrop..it's no surprise to me they have won the treble and I expect them to completely dominate English football for many years to come.

Non fitba folk tell us all the time that fitba is pish . Well tonight they were proved right . A bunch of disgustingly over paid wanks , serving up not very good fair . And that Pep G , thinks he is a god , and he rips my knitting , as does the “ greatest league in the world “ pish that the commentators kept referring to .
Give me Scottish football every day over that that hyped up trash.

I found an Italian 'hucchi' stream and was amazed to see - subject to correction - Paulo di Canio on Sky Italia only 8 years after being sacked on the spot by the same company for showing a 'Dux' tatoo (Latin for Il Duce = Mussolini) on live coverage.

Fukksake he was wearin some dodgy rags (cravates anyone?) and I hardly recognised him. But he was honest and I got the impression the other panellists were a bit put out by him.

So no change there. Well done Pepe.

Cracking finish, and fairytale win for city.

Well if a fairytale is enduring your neighbours be successful for 25 years while you languish in the lower leagues, then turn it completely around in the next decade.

Ive never really got the whole 'plastic' thing aimed at City.
If what theyre doing was happening to lets say Bournemouth I could understand it. But City always been a well supported club even when utter pish for most of their existence, including spells in the lower leagues when they were still drawing 30k. If ourselves or Dundee suddenly benefited from a wealthy benefactor and started challenging the Old Farm, would we suddenly become plastic?

I always saw City as kind of like West Ham, a big club but never really got much glory. You can argue about the merits on how theyve achieved it, but in a way its kind of satisfying how theyve upset the natural order of things. and pretty sure most of their fans would rather be watching world class players and wining the Champions League rather than having derbies with Accrington Stanley and Morecambe, which wasnt all that long ago.

Pretty much spot on, all of that .

No argument, ferguson was very successful, but on a scale of 1 to 10 of sporting bawsacks, ferguson was right up there with a ten. No chicanery/mind games from guardiola.

It was a poor game and I can’t stand the “best league in the world” pish from the media down there, but to say the quality of football up here is better is just wrong IMO .

That match was woeful, I dont think anyone would deny that.
For most of the season and in fact the past few seasons, City have been playing top drawer football thats great to watch. In general the EPL is the best league in the world, thats why they get to sell the rights to all corners of the globe and people want to watch it. This wasnt happening in the 80s when the likes of Wimbledon were plying their hoofball. Serie A was the best league in the world at that time, they had the money and thats were top players and managers wanted to play. Times change.
Did John McGinn become an 'over paid wank' as soon as he joined Villa ?

The EPL has become what it is entirely from Sky TV money...they can thank Rupert Murdoch for it's success commercially.
Every single club gets £100 million + from Sky before the season even starts.
It's a bloated greedy moneyfest of artificial clubs many with very dubious foreign owners.
Many clubs have completely lost their identity.
It's a false, phoney league IMO...so many players and teams overhyped by the media as well.
For me it's the Las Vegas of world football....(even though I like Las Vegas !)
Much of the football is tedious in the extreme.
City are probably the best team in the world....yes they play great football and with the players they have and the mindblowing wages they are being paid to kick a ball around I would expect them to play great football. They have the best players because they can afford to buy any player in the world at every transfer window.
Funny how the fans of the likes of Man City and now Newcastle 10 to 15 years ago would be venting their angst and fury at the human rights records of the countries which now own their clubs. Now because they are shoving sickening amounts of money into them they are suddenly wonderful people.
The whole thing is totally nauseating for me.

Fair points and when you add in the quality of football in Scotland, other sports are becoming more and more appealing .

If anyone was to compare scottish football with the EPL in terms of size and quality...it's like comparing your local shop down the road with Harrods.
All because of size of population and more the case money.
I think for a nation of 5 million we have decent football up here...I wish our national team was better, but we are getting there now because we have started at long last to produce more players of international standard and we have a good national coach.
Our big problem here is we are a very small nation with two enormous "institutions" in it who influence and dominate every single fibre of the game in this country. Therefore our top league is completely uncompetitive and barely merits being called a league.
Said two institutions have developed and marketed themselves well over the years...but ultimately they are both as big and popular as they are due to the sectarian divide which still does and always will hamper and curse Scotland.

Agree completely with this, especially re the Old Farm and their 'marketing'.
But was not always the case, Im old enough to remember Dundee Utd going toe to toe with Man U, Aberdeen pumping Ipswich who were a top English team at that time.
As Ive said before, the pendulum may turn and another league might take over the mantle of the all conquering EPL - Bundesliga, La Liga possibly.
Its 33 years since Italia 90, in many ways that was the start of football in the Uk becoming launched as a 'product' and the game as we know it changed forever. A lot of it you could argue for the good, being decline of hooliganism and rickety old grounds. I know which era I would prefer to take my 7 year old to a game, and it wouldnt be Aberdeen v Hibs circa 1987. Despite all this, theres still a huge part of me that misses the game back then and all that came with it, good and bad - both sides of the border

The football experience is much more civilised now than it was back in the period you describe and I would agree it's a much more civilised environment to bring kids into. Unfortunately we had to have the terrible tragedy of Hillsborough to kick start football clubs into improving stadia and facilities for the fans and of course safety. Like yourself I too miss the rawness of the game back then....swaying crowds on the terracing etc, but there is no doubt the whole experience of going to a football match has changed massively in our lifetimes and largely for the better.

RE the scottish top league. It was refreshing when Aberdeen and Dundee United competed with the top sides in Europe and won leagues and European trophies in the early 1980's. Up till the mid-sixties we also had clubs like Hibs, Hearts, Dundee, Killie and Dunfermline occasionally winning league titles, Scottish Cups and League Cups and all competing well in Europe. Then along came Jock Stein who transformed Celtic forever...which of course meant that the huns had to try and compete with them and so we had Celtic dominating with Rangers eventually following behind. The early 80's saw the emergence of the "new firm" as mentioned...but everything changed in the summer of 1986 with the Souness revolution and the domino effect that created. Since then both the Old Firm have grown massively, helped hugely by the Bosman ruling in the early 90's and Sky TV which meant that the bigger clubs (Rangers and Celtic) could pay enormous wages compared to the rest of the league and so they have been able to recruit much better players and subsequently contest the league title between them ever since. However the main reason the Old Firm are as big as they are is their appeal to the hoards obsessed with sectarian hatred....which as I have mentioned before has nothing actually to do with religion itself.

I didn't say it was better quality, and I said give me it any day over the cheating , arrogant twats which last.night and the epl consistently serve up.

John McGinn does not act like a little petulant child . He is not a cheat, he is not arrogant and has remained a humble man.
He is in the minority down there.
I watched supposedly the best 2 teams in Europe last night . They were hitting free kicks and corners straight out the park . I seen a few 10 yard passes failing to find their target.
Yeah, they are good p!ayers capable of some moments of skill , but I don't buy into all this over hyped pish . It's almost brainwashing .
The commentators were saying last night fatigue was becoming a factor . This was after 60 minutes !!!! They blether some amount of pish and people believe it for some reason.
