No great shock about a potential exit but didn't think he'd end up in Turkey of all places.

I thought when Ross came in, if anyone could get Mallan playing it would be him.

With the ball at his feet there is no doubt Mallan has talent but the other parts of his game, positional awareness, workrate etc still require a lot of improvement. Every manager we have had has more or less decided after a while not to involve/trust him, Ive said before I think he's positionless..you need to play him in an area where he has no defensive responsibilities..i dont think our team accomodates that position under the current manager.

Best for all parties that he goes and frees up a place in the squad...hopefully we wont use it to sign another unfit midfielder.

Loan? We paid decent money for him. Be good to recoup some of it...

He's better to have around than Wrignt.

Good move for him. Likely to have plenty spare time on his hands to practice striking the ball.

Everyone said he was a dead ball specialist. How many goals did he score from free kicks?I bet you his record isn't that great. He was a hit and a miss.I think I've seen too many of them over the past ten years.Probably just as well he's going.

He scored some really brilliant goals for Hibs. Nearly all of them from outside the box. Maybe 3 or 4 freekick goals? Will need to find a highlight reel, probably the best striker of a ball since Riordan. Just ashame not enough to his overall game.

I thought Stevie Mallan was a decent player, but he has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot for while now. His long period out with injury didn't help.

I like midfielders who have a goal threat and Mallan offered that especially from dead ball situations. He maybe lacked other qualities but if he could do everything really well he would never have ended up at Hibs.

I would always have played him in a more forward role where he was more likely to cause damage to the opposition.

Being a specialist doesn't always involve shooting.
Him, Newell and Hallberg all deliver a decent ball.
We should have loads more goals from set plays I feel, we just don't attack them well.

I think I mentioned this was happening at the weekend.

BIG G

Jack Ross interview yday said it had stalled and Mallan was back in contention for game tonight.

He also said there had been “strong interest” in (Ryan) Porto but he was focussed on seeing out the season at Hibs.

"Seeing out the season" is an interesting choice of phrase - did you get the impression he meant Porto is likely away in the summer?

I read that as Porto are interested in Mallan.

I think I've not really grasped the situation.

AC Mallan or Inter Mallan?

Nah, more that he won’t be away this window.

Shuts on Monday so shouldn’t be considering any sale at this point knowing how long it takes us to get incoming deals over the line.

I reckon we haven’t heard the end of this, I expect Mallan and others will be out before the window shuts.

Club saying they don't want to lose Mallan. Standard bollocks. Why wouldn't you not want to lose him if you don't want to play him. I reckon we need to generate some cash and easiest way to do that is lose some players wages. I expect 2 or 3 to go.

Doesn’t make any sense mate, as you say he doesn’t get played so obviously not first choice. I would get rid of him, Hallberg, nowhere good enough in my opinion. Would sell Boyle, Porto also and cut our losses with Drey Wright. I cannot listen to Ross anymore I think he is boring and our football most of the time is boring viewing also.

Sounds like a good plan if we can get replacements. Stopped watching Jack Ross a while ago, the voice alone and arrogance of the guy.

We are desperate to add goals to our Midfield. Despite the number of midfielders that we have on the books. Why are we trying to punt one of our only creative players with an eye for goal?

I've decided Jack doesn't like footballers.
He likes players that run and work hard. Which is fine at St Mirren and other middle of the road clubs.

Just looking at the signings.
Cadden, Irvine, Mcginn x2, Magennis all sold as hard working players with a bit of an engine.

Nisbet seems like a Hibs signing
Wright is a miss hit
Murphy has pedigree

But I dont think ball players are Jack's bag of chips.

Away to Turkey

Good move

Was genuinely excited when Mallan was signed..and tbf he started well. Best for all if he goes tho as he doesnt feature in the team under Ross much...will reduce our quota of ineffectual midfield players by one.

A slower paced game might really suit him. I just struggle to see what the big plan is?

Don’t think this is a great move for him but wish him well.

I liked Mallan. Still do! Scored some great goals for Hibernian, a great striker of a ball.

If it's a big money [for him] loan deal and he does well then there might be money in it for Hibs in the summer. He'll still have a year left on his contrac.t

option to buy too

Good luck to him.

There seems to have been a few transfers to Turkey recently that go along the lines of

A good/great move, he'll be on good wages

Nothing heard of for a couple of months

Back in the UK claiming they've not been paid.

Aye that’s happened to a few Scottish players. I hope it works out for Mallan, it’s a brave move so fair play to him for going abroad and trying something new.
