Opened after a frefurb. Same folk who have the Jolly Botanist and the Fork and Field.
It's alright - more pub grub rather than the posher nosh the Fork and Field is aiming for.
I've been in a couple of times.

I knew a guy that set up a landscaping company and asked him how business was doing.
Brilliant he said, thatā€™s my new Ferrari outside - shiny red beauty.

I had a look. There it was.
A lawnmower.

I know. Bit of a wander off thread.

Had many a local in Dublin as I've moved around a bit, a city where you are never too far away from a very decent boozer. Grew up mostly in Lady Nairne, a fairly shite position in Edinburgh for pubs...nearest are the sheeps heid in duddingston village, which isn't really a pub anymore, the bar at the hotel on willowbrae road, or Scotties down Northfield Broadway. The old Right Wing pub was shite. My local just became by default various places near ER or on the east side of the city Centre. When I'm in Edinburgh these days I'm most in Robbies.

Drawing a line between Scotties and The Grey Horse to Musselburgh there can't be many left.

Aye been a long time pal, haven't been over as much as I would like last few years but bairn hopefully on the way next month so will be over to see the grandparents and sneak a few pints. Dublin hasn't changed much, stokesys da's place is still a burnt out husk, Murray's/Frazers is still a kip, and Parnell St is still knocking out the best scran.

Ever go in the gravediggers pub in Dublin? In there before shamrock rovers v Hibs in 2005 it was excellent. Have stayed around Portobello area last few visits for Scotland games, as you say never far from a decent pub in Dublin

The Portland bar Leith. This pub wasn't actually my local as I lived in Haymarket at the time but I have fond memories of it.
I believe it's still there although I've never been in in years.
Used to work in Henry Robb shipyard (fuckin brilliant place)till Maggie shut it down in 83.
We used to work night shift and when we'd finish in the morning we used to head straight in for a few a few of the pubs down the docks used to open at 8 a.m The Vine was another one.
As you can imagine it was all guys. It seems a bit surreal now but the place was buzzing. They used to show bootleg videos on the wee telly, I saw Rambo and the odd blue movie. Mental some folk weren't even out their scratcher and we were half cut watching porn.
If you lasted long enough a guy used to come in with carrier bags selling butcher meat!
There used to be a chippy next to it think it was called Salvona's and on the other side was a sweetie shop .Portland street was a hive of activity then ,there was always some foreigners coming into the pub selling all sorts. Happy days, pure trainspottin stuff.
Now what have we got Ocean fucking terminal on the site were over 600 men built fuckin good ships.

Lived in the Moat since 1995,the Moat Bar is now Jashans very decent curry house but I was never in the bar.I usually head into Leith if I want a pub which is usually match days now.So the Harp or the Hibs Club.
The Moat bar. I've been in there a couple of times back in the 80s. My mate Brian Redpath aka Gypo used to live in Moat st or terr. Can't even tell you what it was like inside as we used to go on the lash straight after work in Leith and by the time we got to his place via the Go Go dancers in the West Port we were absolutely trolled!
I do remember it was on the right heading towards Slateford but that's about it.
