League Cup First round Group stage.

Good start for Pressley. Dundee board mibbes realise they have made a cvnt of it by getting shot of Docherty.

A few results surprised me.

Fawkirk won by 7!

Spartans beat Ross County

As above, Dundee beaten by Airdrie

Arbroath beat St Midden on penalties!

Motherwell need penalties to beat Clyde!

The usual elements of surprise, but not the ones I expected. Will some Boards panic and push the ejector seat.

And Dunfy were holding Hearts at 1-1 before the ref gave the gunts a penalty out of nothing. The cheating gunt prick was almost on the deck before the goalie got near him, and it's debatable whether the goalie even touched him. It was over as a contest after that.

One of my pals is a hearts fan and was at the game. He was also a grade 1 SFA referee in the past. His honest assessment was that the first penalty shouldn’t have been given but the second was a stonewaller.

I wouldn't disagree with the second one, but it's unlikely the scenario would have arisen if the ref hadn't given the first, as Dunfy were on an even keel with the gunts. I think the second was due to desperation at being one down with very little time left to play.

This is the time of year when you tend to get some odd results...such as Hibs defeat a year ago to Kelty Hearts, and our first leg Euro conference leg defeat to that Andorran outfit.
Players are not fully match sharp yet, and playing away at a wee ground, unfamiliar surroundings etc.
Just glad Hibs are not having to take part in this League Cup section nonsense this year.
