Vegetables use more land still per nutrient iirc though I can't be arsed checking. Lettuce is a particularly evil bastard I think.

This article is brought to you by the kind of geniuses who decided they were going to turn grain into Eco fuel and starved half the worlds poor.

Right!

Anyone else think this is Volkswagen defecting blame elsewhere?

Who owns a Volkswagen?

Re the photo with the article. While driving around the UK I've never seen the likes of that but in the States, California, I drove through miles and miles of it, it was quite an eye opener ... and nose closer!

wow, and I say again, wow. Googling some stuff about food on the back of this thread I came upon an article about nutrition being bred out of vegetables (see here in interested: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/26/o...tion-out-of-our-food.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 ). Anyway, the article mentions multi coloured corn which made me curious so I googled that, and wtf! I simply had no idea that corn cobs could look like this:

They look like jelly beans. I have just had a weird feeling of reality shifting under my feet.
