Wee Joe Harper hit a hat trick for Hibs in the same game.

Correct he scored hat tricks in 2 cup finals against us.

I'll have to check this but I heard he scored something like 16 goals in 15 games against Hibs. Jim Black just couldn't cope.

Very good player. I saw him playing for Luton at Notts County and Notts really couldn't get to grips with him at all. He then went in goal after the goalie was injured and was brilliant at that too!

That was also my first Hibs cup final...my dad took me and my brother through to the game and we were in that old North Stand that was demolished decades ago.
Dixie Deans was responsible for some childhood trauma for me.
He was the John Robertson of his time...except Dixie usually scored hat-tricks against us.
Deans scored a hat-trick against Hibs in a 5-0 win for Celtic at Parkhead the week before that 1974 League Cup Final...then duly helped himself to another one a week later.
A stocky wee player, he was a bit of a goal machine back then, but unfortunately it was Hibs that usually bore the brunt of his penalty box prowess.
