He will always be remembered for the character Boycie.If someone had said to me 'see John Challis has died' I'd be saying 'who' none the worse for that,got many a laugh from that great character.So rest in peace.

Opposite for me, thought he was superb as the stuck up twat in Only.
Fantastic scripts and great performances.

Have to be honest and say, I never really liked the Boycie character. For me he never really fitted in. Just my opinion.

Spot on observation on real life mate. Usually boring pains in the arse better avoided.
Another of that ilk in the comedic genre was the Den Perry character in the splendid Pheonix Nights.

I think that's why I didnt take to him at first. But then I got the joke and thought he was brilliant

Aye that would’ve been the perfect final episode. Those 3 Christmas episodes in 1996 were all good, the specials they did after that were pretty dreadful.

Favourite Boycie episode “A Losing Streak” from series 2 where he thinks he’s cleaned Del out at poker! RIP
