One of the less shite Celtc minded stories about James Connolly and his love of Hibs.

Thanks for that; a well written article.

Re the free entry for Priests, my uncle Fr George Rodgers enjoyed this privalidge well into the 70's, he used to take us to the game and we got in free too. I'm glad he did too. Lived a Hibby and died a Hibby

Hibernification is brutal patter .

Green blood runs through my non Roman Catholic veins like hundreds of fellow St. Patrick's Branch members and Hibernian supporters in general . My Branch is saluting this Irish Catholic man who with others made me the man that I am and women that they are. It could have been so totally different if they thought it not possible back then and had not overcome some considerable institutional obstacles and good old Scottish racism at the time .

Plenty celtic supporters are not Catholic and they have signed non Catholics for many years. If keeping to our roots means getting smashed on buckfast and singing IRA songs then give me Hibs over celtic any day. Seen too many of their horrible support when I lived in the west

I have absolutely no dought that my other US and Canada based fanatical Hibernian St. Patrick's Branch members and others up there will think so too.
That's the difference.

We will soon get to the point where we are "saluting the man/lady", rather than saluting the "<insert race> or <insert colour> or <insert religion> man/lady"

Cannae wait.

PS great read.

I did G. To be honest I didnt know a lot about him at all. In fact because of experiences with the sectarian divide I experienced in the west, I just hated all to do with sectarian bullshit and ignored much of the history. That does not mean I dissed religion, just the pointless hatred of each other. But having read more about his socialist ideals and the desire to bond the common man together in helping each other get proper working and living conditions then I can respect that.
