Haiti has been a basket case for a long long time.

It’s heretical to say, but they’d be better off with some kind of quasi colonial type occupation by the UN to sort it out. I mean you need 50 to a 100 years of nation building to get out of this sort of situation.

For such a tiny country it doesn't half get a lot of attention on the Bounce!

Haiti has been a basket case for as long as it's existed. I not even sure if this latest basket casery is a continuation of the last few basket caseries or a new one!

When I was in the Dominican Republic our tour guide sagely pronounced on their neighbours; it seemed be the voodoo that was in his estimation, the difference.

Ironic given that Haiti occupied the DR for a while being richer and more powerful at the end of the eras of, respectively, French and Spanish colonialism.
