Mine seems to be goosed, popped into my local phone shop and was quoted 80 for the part! A quick google suggests they're 10 absolute max.

But I'm concerned I'm gonna buy a dud..anyone know a decent website for such items?

Maplins.

I got a PQI i-cable lightning connector for about twelve quid.
It's excellent, and the thing is 'two way' so you can insert it to the pc 'either way up' if you know what I mean.

Also comes in lovely colours.

Mine is a sort of purple colour.

So it matches the cable perfectly.
:thumbgrin

edit: you may be meaning a bit of the phone rather than the charging cable eh........

Aye Doc, it's the actual part of the phone you insert the cable into. Looks beyond my capabilities, but I'll give it a whirl.

Take it into an Apple store. My son's Iphone was having a charging issue. We took it into Apple and the problem was oose in the phone's charging port. They took it out with a pin and used a compressed air blower to make sure it was cleaned out. They also checked the phone was operating correctly......all for no charge. If the charging port is indeed knacked then by all means seek another repair but it's worth trying first.

Good shout, will head up tomorrow.

All parts from eBay are fine. 80 is a horrendous price mate, I'd usually do a charging port for about 30-40 so I'd avoid that like the plague.

Just checked, they are 5.95 for a new charging port.

Easy enough to fit?

A boy i know just fixed his in the exact same manner Beagle describes (air blower from the pound shop)

"My iPhone 5s has been giving me grief for a few weeks now, haven't been able to get it to charge. Thinking the port was dodgy I contacted Apple they wanted 180 to fix it! I just fixed it myself with a cocktail stick a cloth and a can of air from the pound shop. Total saving 179!"

That's bizarre. As many have said, compressed air will clear out gunk, but if the port is totally fubar'd - as with corrosion - they'll generally replace the phone for less than that.

Sometimes even for free.

Sure you didn't go to this Apple by accident?

Dunno wasn't me , I personally wouldn't have an iPhone as I don't rate them

I'm not partisan about technology, I've had all brands in the past but iPhone 6 is excellent and my previous best smartphone was also an iphone (4s). The only thing that lets the 6 down is that it's like a bar of soap to hold.

My wife has the 6+ and an Ipad , to be fair its more the way you have to be reliant on apples software etc that gets me . I much prefer my Samsung Tablet to her Ipad . I think most new phones suffer the bar of soap problem too
