Mine is to do with recycling plastics. Plastics are a carbon storage material but they are used carefree for disposal products. They are subsequently chucked into the natural environment (the sea etc) breaking into parts that entangle marine life and microscopic particles that enter the food chain..

What if all records were made with a portion of recycled plastic? Then if I’m buying the rare release of GZA liquid swords or Jai Paul jasmine LP on limited edition pink see through vinyl etc, then I’m also saving the environment. Then it would be a duty of care to the environment to buy and keep a good music collection (although admittedly there are a few records I’d be tempted to launch into the sea).

It would be nice to have a few materials scientists on board.

The most recent A Certain Ratio LP was pressed on recycled plastic. I must admit you can’t beat a thick slab of black vinyl though

That’s a start I suppose. Today I saw a plaque commemorating mr Vincenzo Lunardi. He flew a hydrogen balloon over the forth. Coming to land in a field in Ceres, Fife in 1759. Billed as Scotland’s first aerial voyage. Flight certainly was a bit of a show stopper of an innovation.
