How Scotland has been systematically asset-stripped by foreign predators

Like most folk I knew this was happening but until I read this I'd no idea of the full extent Scotland had been raided, pillaged and asset-stripped by foreign predators, especially in key assets related to finance and energy.

This is the real story of modern Scotland which is rarely told by media and politicians. As the author says: "No other European country flogs its strategic assets in this way."

Read it and weep.

Its got nothing to do with xenophobia and everything to do with a country having control over its own strategic assets. But you knew that anyway...

No - I genuinely do not know why you care more about where the bosses are employed vs the labour

Its about the future. Things go badly for a company they close down on contract overseas assets first; if things go well they expand at home first. Its about where they [probably] avoid paying taxes, where profits are spent and other social contributions.

British [or Scottish] is now more likely to be part of a brand name rather than HQ where strategic decisions are made.

Fuck it! Even with the Royal, as in Mail, major overseas investors were given preference over small (OK over 10K or 20K) investors in the UK; profits (from the share selling) gone overseas as will the dividends.

The article is incorrect in a minor way; it's Royal London not London Life. Never heard of London Life.

I think there is a place for selling assets, but also keeping a share from the country if you think it'll be profitable.there is also cases where state ownership is essential, and Royal Mail is the prime example...the cost of posting things in the central belt will be cheaper than for those in the highlands and islands, but collectively we can keep their costs down...thats not gonna happen with privatisation.

The most obvious and important one on that list to me is the English run national grid having control of all Scottish power lines.

In the south of England those running the power plants are PAID to join onto the national grid.

Here in Scotland our power plants are CHARGED to join onto it.

With that being the case is it any wonder that Scots get charged more for their electricity? Electricity that we generally need more of in the first place due to being further north.

the article makes the case for why its important - did you have a look at it yet?
I think it's important. But I also think that jobs for labour as well as the bosses is important. It's inconsistency at best, or concern only for the fat cats at worst, that I am questioning.
