How disappointed would you be if we never brought anyone in over the winter transfer?

I said off their head.

And I did answer the question. We were fucking shite. Team had a losing mentality, soft, weak, shitebags. Find a week where I haven't said that for years?

We were 100% guaranteed to have a shite start to this season.
It was shiter than it should've been, I thought we were better than what was on paper for much of it.

But I knew it would turn around. Back when you were all crying about relegation I replied that we wouldn't be relegated. Cert.
Got a wee arguement off you all back then and now we're arguing about whether or not we qualify for Europe.

Some turn around eh? Think we've got it bad, look where we are compared to where we were.

Lighten up.
Sorry, I was legit asking what made you think we would be shite at the start of the season and good as it developed, what was that based on?

We did turn it around from the initial disaster yeah. You did say it would turn around too, fair play.

We can discuss this at the end of the season but imo, with no other signings tonight I don't think we will now qualify for Europe will you concede the transfer window has been crap for us and SDG has been thrown under a bus?

I don't think anything about Hibs being shite was a secret. I dunno why anyone is surprised otherwise. I spent a whole summer warning you.

Also I dunno that he's been thrown under a bus. If he doesn't want stuff then he doesn't want it. He knows he's got the season, they've obviously agreed something along the way.
Big picture.

Also don't think Europe is anywhere near out of reach. What about the last 2 months suggests anyone can stop us?
We're the team to beat right now.
We'll stumble as we go, everyone will. But keep even half this form and we'll carry into the split.

Here's a thought.......

Maybe the new lad from Bournemouth HAS been very active in this window after all.

Might have been him that used his knowledge and stopped us signing more McKirdys, and Jairs?

Thinking positive here!

While not fucking it up even further does sound a positive mate it still leaves us with a squad I don't believe will make Europe.

At least we can at least chuck in the bin the game changing investment shite. Or the Bournemouth feeder team crap.

I think the gunts (who are the form team) have a better squad than us and will catch us. Aberdeen have pushed the boat out on signings to turn their form around and Dundee Utd have strengthened too. That's what makes me think we won't. We will see at the end of the season but I'm deeply disappointed for SDG he hasn't been backed sufficiently.

Oh I'm sure it will all come good in the next window.

Or the one after that.
Or the one........

Our form is longer than theirs, so it doesn't count. Once we drop the L we can talk about someone else taking over. They can't catch us as long as we keep picking up points.

Aberdeen have pushed the boat out... Aberdeen have done nothing until they start winning games. They're in the losers mentality position.

Dundee united are looking good, but they aren't actually that good. It'll catch up to them.

Worrying about everyone else being so amazing and not seeing anything wrong with them.
While only seeing what's wrong with Hibs while everything is going right.

Exhausting way to be.

Its a realistic threat assessment. We have the advantage over them but hearts are gaining ground on us. While Dundee United are still there to be caught- I'm reasonably confident Aberdeen will be.

if we slip back our lack of additions may be looked on as a missed opportunities

Malky Mackay and David Marshall need to move on and let the Black Knights get on with it.

I'm not sure either has been an asset this season.
Marshall would have been better staying the goalie.
I don't know what Malky contributes, or who is now tasked with signing up new players.

I have to assume we tried for at least a couple, maybe more.
I'd be interested to know why we failed?
Not enough being offered?
Did we mention we had a castle here?

January window has went kind of how I expected.

Managing to sign a player on a permanent deal kind of surprised me, but I thought we might have got a couple of loan deals in
as well, but they must think we are well enough covered in most areas till the end of the season.
Getting shot of Doyle-Hayes, Kennah (loaned out, but he is away), Amos, and McKirdy should help focus things before the big summer refit.

The big story was Elie Youan, and I just hope now that he is staying till at least the summer, when he becomes fit and available to play, that he gets the finger out and gives the team what it is currently missing...a bit of devilment and class in the last third.

We still have too big a squad of players, and the reality is that squad size....with the cost thereof.....will have been the big factor in everything.
Loads of players out of contract in the summer, and I expect there will be a lot of significant transfer activity then.
Onwards and upwards.

I would have bitten your hand off finishing 3rd from bottom a few months ago, and now we're potentially looking at finishing 3rd. I think we'll fall short of that and probably end up 5th sadly. If we'd spent wisely in this window, 3rd was very achievable. With around £700,000 in the transfer kitty, we could have found at least 1-2 quality players along with getting our long term injuries back playing. That would have been enough to seriously challenge for 3rd place.

I think it ignores the very realistic threat that we pose.
I think it ignores the exact same possibilities of those other teams slipping.

I hoped we'd do more business, but I'm glad I'm not sitting here questioning why we've signed a Harry McKirdy or some such.

So we don't look to strengthen just in case we yet again sign a dud....

I very much hope I'm wrong but I suspect in time it will confirm that we blew a fantastic opportunity this window to really kick on.

We don't know what opportunities we missed though? Who moved that would really change things?

No sure it's been a very exciting window for anyone.

Calvin Ramsey? Good player, no really in need of a right back on loan though.
Jamie McCart? I'd have taken him when we tried to sign him before, majority on here disagreed.
Allan Campbell? I'd have probably taken tbf, United seemed a strange deal, good move for them. If he comes back up here with a point to prove he'll be a handful.

No convinced anyone else is worth losing sleep over. So I'm no sure who we've missed out on.
Don't think it's been as busy as previous seasons

Wanted to see something from Bournemouth if I'm honest. They must have someone in their final 6 months to offload on a paid holiday like Marcondes last year?

Players from other Scottish clubs signings this window I would have been happy with joining us:

Kristers Tobers
Ruari Paton,
Lewis Fiorini
Allan Campbell
Elton Kabangu
Jamie McCart
Alasana Manneh
Calvin Ramsay
Zach Hemming
Luke Plange
Sander Kartum

Plenty out there.

Personally, I’m pleased with the window. We’ve suffered from a lack of continuity in players and managers for years. The past few months we’ve finally stabled the ship and I was worried 48hrs ago hearing we may rip that apart by losing Rocky, Youan and Miller.

Rocky is an important part of a recently formed, solid defence. Miller is adequate cover for Cadden who is likely to miss some games before the season ends and Youan gives us something different up top and, on his day, a match winner.

New additions would’ve been great, but not for the sake of it. I’m excited we’ve maintained continuity and can hopefully finish the season positively and bring some new additions in, in the summer whilst locking in new deals for some of the current squad. My ask from Hibs though is lets gets the business done early to give the new additions time to settle and gel before the league campaign starts.

In terms of JDH, Amos and McKirdy, these were deadwood in our squad and trimming down the squad in this way doesn’t feel like a loss at all. More opportunities for some of the academy to mix with first team squad now and some wage off the book. Do recognise we’ve burnt a wedge on that trio though and going by this window it looks like we’ve learnt our lesson on recruiting!

Feeling optimistic and genuinely excited at how we can progress next season if we can finish this season strongly and hold onto what we’ve got.

And who's place are any of them taking?
Allan Campbell genuinely the only one with a threat of walking into the first team.

Maybe there's more to some of them, but I'm no seeing anything worth getting bothered about.

Alasana Manneh, that's up for our legend of a head coach to decide I guess. Hopefully he's good enough to get in our team.

Back in time for the transfer window to vent your spleen eh?
Missed your rhetoric Bambers.

You don't think our new signing will get in our team?

Quality over quantity indeed.

That's one way to flip the question..

You listed a squads worth of names, no me.
If you're just gonna jump around then it I'm no gonna bother.

100% agree with this. Plenty cover all across the squad. And glad to see the back of McKirdy, Amos and JDH.

I am hoping they are looking at players now for next season.
