No sooner is one game out of the way, the next is rattling over the horizon.

Celtc have had a bit of a car crash season, but unfortunately for us they have someone who knows what they are doing at the helm again. Pity, if they are getting a manager from the american pub league I think we would have turned them over in his first game. Good result for them tonight, mind. Surprised by that.

I think there's probably two ways of picking a team. What I think we should do, and what I think SDG will do. If it was me, I'd resist the temptation to go to 4 at the back this weekend, but we need a much, much improved performance on Sunday and we have to be on it from the kick off. I would go back to white socks though, and ditch the green ones for the rest of the season.

So, what I think SDG will do

Sallinger
O' Hora - Rocky - Iredale
Mulligan-Barlaser-Chaiwa-Obita
McGrath
Bowie-Klidje

I think we have to get to 60 mins still in the game, and then our subs can make an impact. Elie in particular can do some damage. There's compromises in not playing the Caddens but defensively we can't allow Celtc space in behind our wing backs.

I'd quite like it if we are on it all game. Another insipid performance will play right into Celtc hands.

As always though, that's my thoughts, I'm more interested in hearing yours

Need Mulligan in the middle so I’d go Chaiwa, Mulligan, Barlaser, Obita, as the only change 🤔
Basically Chaiwa and Obita to replace Caddens . Who knows though eh 🤷‍♂️
O’Hora captain and rest Boyle, not just one game though, wont happen probably 🤞

I would have dropped Iredale after the other night but with Hanley missing thats oot the windae. I agree about Nicky Cadden but I think he will stay with Chris because we need Mulligan in midfield.
Just wondering which Hibs we will get. Widnae mind so much if we got beat if we have a go at Celtc but will we have a go?

Celtic have had an average to poor season so far by their standards, but O'Neill has steadied the ship in recent weeks and they got a great win in Rotterdam last night.
They have better players and a stronger squad than everyone else and that's what tells come the end of the season.
On Sunday however, Hibs are due their fans a passionate team performance, and we are certainly looking for a reaction after Tuesday night's insipid effort against Motherwell.
We have been very inconsistent this season so far, and to retain any vestige of hope for a top four finish we are going to have to start winning on a more regular basis.
Goes without saying Sundays match will be very difficult, but we must have a go at them and defend well and cut out the basic errors which have plagued us so far this season.
As always against Celtic, avoid an early goal conceded and hopefully get the first goal as late on in the game as possible.
Be pleasantly surprised if we win, and a draw would be a good result, so I am going for 1-1.

I agree the Caddens will be exposed if starting on Sunday. Boyler on bench please and Newell too, although not the right game to bring him back. Hanley will be missed. Celtic will be fatigued from Europe but we must not rely on that. I'm going 1 all unless we haven't recovered from Tuesday, in which case 2-1 to Celtic.
One of the things I noticed about Celtic on Thursday was they played it through the middle, if the wings are cut off.

Since MO’N came in Celtc are a different animal. We, on the other hand (as Jeremy Beadle might have said), are as predictable as ever.
I expect Gray will put out a defensive side and hope to hit on the break. Which won’t work. As usual. We’ll be camped in our own box parking the bus ultimately to come undone with the usual lost goals in injury time. A Big G, 0-3, in reverse unfortunately.

Totally agree with it not being the right time to go to a Back 4. Megwa hasnt yet proved himself.

Playing Mulligan at right wing back is a needs must situation. What we lose from not having Mulligan in the centre will be more than compensated by having Chaiwa in the centre and having Mulligan close down the gaps on the right usually left by Chris Cadden. It might mean Hibs would play more passing football than chundering down the flanks sending crosses to no one.

I could go either way with Obita and Nicky Cadden but Obita might edge this one out as Beardy is prone to average defending which celtic would explot with their movement in the channels. I doubt if SDG will drop his captain but Klidje for Boyle makes sense.

Think average defending for Nicky is a bit optimistic tbh . Would prefer chaiwa wide , hasn’t tried that yet, your right re-boyle, don’t know why SDG doesn’t see that either 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I too think Chaiwa would make a decent RWB and said so before - he can travel, beat his man and he’s not shy in the tackle. I’d rather see him than Mulligan in that role if Cadden is not playing.

Either we are both daft ( no comments pls )or SDG canny see the wood for the trees 🤣

I think we need to try something different, we are too easy to play against at times, so I would go back to an old 4-4-2 system for this one, missing Hanley seems an ideal opportunity.

I would go

Sallinger
C Cadden - Rocky - O'Hora - Obita
McGrath - Mulligan - Barlaser - N Cadden
Bowie - Klidje

The only player not playing a 'natural' position would be McGrath on the right, but I think he's good enough to adapt to there. We need Mulligan in the middle for his energy and pressing, not something that is McGrath's game.

If it doesn't work, then the bench needs to be used better than it has been, no more "giving players game time" - this is not the game for it (Levitt against Dundee being prime example of this). Players like Youan, Hoilett, Chaiwa, Boyle etc. need to only be brought on if we are looking to change the game. If by December, players can't play 90 minutes then questions have to be asked of their fitness and dedication to getting fit.

Time to show our teeth and stop rolling over for teams that are "better than us", f*** them and show them absolutely no respect, get stuck in from the first whistle until the last, get the tackles in as hard as possible without yellow cards and show them we want this. Might be nice to show the fans it looks like we want it in big games as well, it's been a while........

Klidje must be injured.
We have been severely limited in our forward options all season, so the last thing we need are injuries to the strikers we do have.
Has to be a late injury as the whole squad apart from Rudi was available yesterday. I do wish they would let the fans know. Would be so easy just to add injured players to the matchday team release.

Screenshot of today’s squad. Klidje out of the starting lineup. Not on the bench and, as can be seen, not on the injured list.
