Harris v Trump are you staying up to watch?

I'm going to take a gummy, kick back and watch the drama

Anticipation Popcorn GIF

No working tomoz so will stay up for a bit. I gather that it may either provide quite strong indicators early doors, or more likely as Archie says, drag on…perhaps even beyond tomorrow.

So I’ll keep an eye on the early scores on the doors then turn in I think. More that I’ll be up anyway than being up for it, but I’ll stick on the coverage in an hour or so. Probably.

Will probs leave a radio feed going which will send me off pdq unless owt happens apart fae punters voting. In that meantime, that is....

..Naw, will no doubt be out before the weather comes on...

Gotta say, it confuddles me 🫣
The electoral college vote, i kinda understand, like california has 54 of them, California votes Democrats then 54 seats go to them… but what’s all the “electors” if the voters vote for the democrats why is there an “elector” involved 👀 “fake electors” now more confused 🫣

I have just learned from the sky news site, that technically, KH has already been president. For 85 minutes while JB was anaesthetised during a medical procedure.

The only 85 mins ever then.

I've never been to the States.I'm just beginning to learn which places I want to avoid should I ever go.

I've skimmed all the UK channel coverage. Not very good in my opinion.
Fired through US channels most with large panels and as per previous years I'm now watching election coverage on CNN which is without a doubt the best.
Host and two extremely experienced , psephologists whom I've seen before.
Several large graphics. With detailed %ages, county by county in each state.
%ages in each state for each candidate...by gender, age group, race, education etc. Very impressive.

Magic place. Far more ‘alive’ than Europe despite its problems.

I’ve been to quite a few places, mostly though work. Loved them all, red or blue. You don’t want to write places off because of politics would be my strong view and certainly not the stereotypes presented by the media.

If you ever do get the chance, stay away from Republican or Democrat partisans and I’m sure you’d find Americans to be a good crowd whenever they came from.

I have to agree, there's a lot of good here in the United States, much more positive than negative. The 20 years I've lived here, I honestly have not once thought about the state I'm visiting as a red or blue State. It doesn't even enter my head space when visiting, or taking a trip.

Would I visit the deep South? Probably not, but only because there's really nothing I want to see.

Bloomberg for me buddy. Seems the most impartial. CNN is good for their show overall too though.

Very difficult pathway for Harris to win now it would seem. Apparently Trump now 72% likely to win....
I've got him on a double with Aston Villa tomorrow (I just wanted to type that as it sounds fucking mad) so I hope so.

Tivo box for my Smart TV is knackered, so no TV for me till the technician comes on Thursday night.
US presidential election is not high on my list of interests anyway to be honest.
Thought Trump would win from the outset, and I still think so...but it will be a lot closer than it would have been if Biden had still been running.
Don't rate either candidate to be honest, so I have a degree of sympathy for the American people.

Here's CNN man, my new site is launching in the next week or so, so it's an external link sorry

Might just be me but the sky panel - which is almost comically transparent in its preference for Harris - seem to be getting a bit twitchy.

Black and Hispanic voters seem to be turning out for Trump. Harris up on the white vote. There go some more stereotypes perhaps. Bit distasteful of Sky suggesting this is down to ‘black bros’ influenced by macho chat and podcasts.

Not been to the Deep South, but south of Dixie is the warmest and friendliest in my experience.

I love it all though, New Orleans and San Francisco my faves overall.

Sure you’re not muddling that with 72% in exit polls saying the country is going in the wrong direction? US exit polls seem to test people’s views on things like that rather than how they voted.

I'm thinking Tennessee or anywhere I run the risk of being bobbed up the arse while kayaking 😳

Never been to New Orleans, but loved San Francisco back in the day. I'd highly recommend Alcatraz. Arizona is a great place to visit too, loads of great places to hike.

My second favourite country after Scotland.
Been to the US three times and done a bit of travelling there, and to this day have never encountered more friendly, warm, hospitable, and positive minded people in any other country I have visited.
It's so vast though, as you say you can't just stereotype all americans as being the same, and all parts of what is effectively a continent of 400 million people as being the same.
I stayed in Missouri for a month back in 1991, and got a flavour of life in small town mid-west USA, and it was so immensely different from the big cities like New York and LA.

I have to agree too. Some of the most genuine and nicest people you could meet, and politics doesn't come into it. There's people in my neighborhood who I am the opposite of them in a lot of ways and when I got over here? They gave me their CAR. They had one for their daughter and gave it to me until I got one. He's a huge Trump fan. They are all in that family. They showed me unbelievable generosity. His wife called my wife her liberal sister.

The point I'm making is the extreme divisive political climate here does NOT define people here. Over here, people WANT you to do well and celebrate it; they don't bitch about their lot when you succeed, as I find back home a lot.

The biggest thing I find over here is so many don't know the rest of the world exists. I've met more than one person who genuinely thinks the states is the only country with democracy ffs. But I DO live in GTA country!!

2.20 Kenny and still early doors, with some states with low % returns and big blue states like New York and California not mentioned yet.
I've had it, off to bed.

Sky is like democrat tv. It’s remarkable. Went here for less bias than the BBC but I’m persuaded the BBC wouldn’t be this overt. Still, used to this panel now.

Just like last time....watch the rigging kick in shortly.

I remember last election getting up at this time with Trump being 1/10 to win.

Then a Joe Biden miracle began...🙄

Probably be a couple of places close due to a bomb hoax....then all votes goto Demoncrat.
