Gumtree: Utter Twunts?

I think so.

However; should I expect civility, respect and decent cusomer relations from a company providing a free service?

I posted two ads on Gumtree on Saturday, both had a status of Processing for about two hours then were moved on to a status of Removed and completely unavailable.

I checked the explanation of Removed, it stated I'd have received an e-mail explaining why. I never did.

So, I mailed them. They replied with a curt, condescending e-mail explaining nothing about their decision other than linking their T&Cs. Also stating I could appeal within the next 7 days.

I mailed them back asking them to explain what it was that got the ads banned.

They mailed back this morning with an extremely rude patronising e-mail stating their original descision had been upheld and that as far as they were concerned, the matter was closed and that I shouldn't bother replying as no further e-mails would be responded to!

Holy fuck! Pretty surprised, at this to be honest.

I mailed them back anyway and will continue to do so every day until they get sick of me and respond. They may add my address to junk mail I suppose. I'll figure out some other way of highlighting their shitness at that point.

Had a look online and this is apparently a pretty common customer experience.

Gumtree bought by eBay in 2005

Gumtree is wasted.

It's helped me get a few weekend jobs in the past, but it's mostly full of advertising and nonsense.
At least once a month someone on my Facebook is out complaining about their number being linked to a fake advert on Gumtree.
Was also reading the other day that cats and dogs that get put up, regularly end up being used a bait to train fighting dogs.. brutal stuff

Hammi, I think you're right. The cat/dog thing is rough. Pun unintended.

eBay pretty much have an almost 100% monopoly in the UK market with the aquisition of Gumtree.

So, I decided to reserach a bit.

Call me cynical / paranoid / David Icke but have eBay teamed up with Monopoly (the board game) to make getting eBay as a monopoly hard to search for on a search engine?

Pretty clever if so.

I fell out with eBay ages ago. Them and PayPal both offer a good service but give brutal customer service and experiences.
I like Amazon, but I know plenty who won't use them because of their tax issues.

Yep, I'm swithering as to whether I should use eBay or Amazon Marketplace.

Or just use the bounce and donate a % to Dnipro / Server costs!
