Gray Yer Times Up

I don't think he had any idea who or what he was going to do.
He knew he wanted the job, and I think it was a case of asking everyone he had on his badge courses if they wanted a job.

Eddie May being the experienced member despite clearly wanting none of it. Vocally, ever. He wants to be behind the scenes, uninvolved with the revolving door.

At the time I get it, but managers change their back room teams. Gray’s too stubborn on many things to his detriment, his coaches is one of them.

That didn’t happen. He replaced barsallar
Newell took a spot in the middle of the park. McGrath played out wide. Am I missing something?

Play just about anyone else out wide left against a mid table championship team and put one of our most dangerous attacking central midfielders in central midfield. McGrath spent most of the game at left back.

Nice to see the original "GTF" thread title has been edited🙄.

Sense of Billy Big Baws entitlement on here is at "First World Problem" levels.

Since 3 points for a win came in, we've bettered our current Points-per-Game tally over a full top division season 4 times. Under Eck in 2001, Mogga in 2005, Lennon in 2018 & Ross in 2021.

"Aye, but we're Hibs..."

Aye... and we've always been Hibs.

I don't want to sound like Mark Renton at Corrour Station, but... Come on, guys! Where do you think we should be?
Aye, we do have a lot more money than the smaller "provincials" (© Daily Ranger) these days, which wasn't always the case.

Where do most folk on here expect Hibs to be?
Not "want."
"Expect."
...and on what historical precedent or current projection/extrapolation of accurate information is that expectation based?
Just last season's unbeaten run, or something more concrete?

A few shifts on a trawler, down a pit, in a field or at a blast furnace would do some lads on here a power of good. As would 12 months square bashing or 90 days in Saughton.

Who do folk want as manager?
Klopp's not coming. Nor is Bielsa.

Robinson?
McGlynn?
Martindale?
They'd all get 90% "thumbs downs"

Askou wouldn't come. Eyes likely on bigger things.

Any big ex-number fives we fancy?

Get a grip!

I think Gray will stay but I can't see how he'll come back from today....

I thought Obita was one of our team who got pass marks
I agree D, but struggling to think of another to be honest. Mulligan injured as he was finding his stride but Chaiwa did his best to fill that role. McGrath never stopped trying but that’s about it for me. Too many players well off it at the same time.

We won’t get someone better by the end of the season, and no one is going to come to us and get us 3rd or 4th now. May as well keep him to the end of the season and end things mutually.

But aye I think his time is up, between bottling Europe, general poor performances in the league and today being the icing on the turd. He hasn’t been helped by the poor recruitment though. Criminal that we went into the season without another striker, and Cadden/Megwa as our RWB options…

Hertz are sitting top of the league 6 points ahead of the chasers. That's where I want us to be.Please don't say 'their bubble will burst'.Really?

Thing is I don’t think we can afford to just coast out this season. Once you’ve got a lame duck in charge you can end up in a bad spiral, could end up outside top 6. We can’t risk that.

I’m assuming this is satire 😂 “National service, you’ve never had it so good, what what” . Some of us have a bit of ambition ffs.

I don’t base expectations on history, seems a strange way to hold yourself back. I base it on being one of the biggest spending clubs in the country, with one of the biggest fan bases. On that basis, we should be finishing between third and fifth every season, occasionally pushing further.

How many of those jobs have you done? What’s the relevance to that in watching a football team? Here a clue - none.

I don’t need to work down a mine to know Hibs should be beating fucking Dunfermline and above fucking Motherwell in the league…. Get a grip indeed.

Risk ending with more like me who've lost interest in paying out to go to games and wishing they hadn't bothered . I was offered a freebie last weekend but had no interest in taking it , its amazing how quickly you get out of the habit

You no get banned for making a cvnt of yourself?

What Sir Dave has done, twice now btw, is show everyone else what this club can be.
Ownership has shown they'll back the club to get to that place. So now it's time to move on from these managers with prospects and bring in someone who's already done his learning on the job.

We can't afford to watch him learn the trade, not if we want to be where Hearts are.
We needed him when we needed him, but he's reached his peak and the stage is set for something new.

I think they'll wait til the summer. They'll give him the chance to get some euro football, but without it we have to move on.

You can’t afford to be sentimental about this. Gray flatters to deceive very occasionally. But overall, he’s just not good enough. Time for change is overdue.
Overdue? So when should he have gone then? He's been manager for about 18 months FFS

Does fifth get conference? Can’t see us getting 4th.

I don't think it's overdue. I think calls in August and September were premature.
I think he earned the right to start this season, and I think he's just ran his course.

I don't think so, haven't we lost the position we had last year?
We need to get our coefficient back up for anyone outside the top 2 to be guaranteed anything now I think. Don't even think the cup gets that guaranteed spot now. The one Aberdeen dined on this season, snatched from us by Celtic gifting them the cup 😭

A real sliding doors moment that.

He should never have been given the job in the first place but any number of times where he has shown his cluelessness. Kelty Hearts is one example but there are many others.

Was devastated. They earned it, granted. But I think every season since it's been available it went to the league unless it was ours. (Think it happened to Jack Ross too)

Hibs eh

1 defeat against Hearts.
Plenty credit earned in his time as manager too.

There's no a one sided negative to his run.

We took 5,000 fans to a cup game against lower league opposition, we regularly sell our allocations for away league fixtures. Our fans deserve so much better than this shite. I dont need jail time to work that out.
Pardonny moi?

Agreed.
He should have played his strongest starting line-up, but the team that was sent should have been more than capable of getting the job done.
They were completely bullied out the game by a hungrier team who wanted it more.
I cant understand the thinking here. What is more important than the cup competitions in any Hibs season never mind when the gunts have a crack at the title?

I think if SDG wasn't revered for all the reasons we know about, the calls for a change would have been louder and sooner.
With the squad we have, and the remarkably tolerant strong support base, we should be doing so much better.
The same managerial problems keep appearing - questionable team selections, weird substitutions, no plan B, waiting too long to make changes, etc.
Today we should have started our strongest 11, and given fringe players a run out when we were 2 or 3 up, and the Pars were tiring.
There's no point in wondering if we could still get European football. There wouldn't be any point, playing the way we have been.
As for a replacement, we need to cast the net wide, and use the best advice we can get. After all, who had heard of Le Bris before the Sunderland gig, or Askou before he appeared at Murderwell? There must be others out there.
We should be moving on this soon, or the financial consequences of continued mediocrity in falling attendances will start to hurt us further. And any more spending on players should be delayed until a new coach can improve the team as he sees fit.

Daft thread and way over the top. Bookmarked for when we get get some big results in the coming weeks like last time and the threads after a 1-0 defeat at ibrox.

Lost to a smaller club 2 times since november 2024. (Well away and today via a freak deflection) we quite often lose to 2 smaller teams a month in my time supporting us.
