Hi everybody, long time Hibs.Net contributor first time on the Bounce.
Decided to sign up here coz I'm sick to the back teeth of post after post on that site from folk telling everybody why they wont be renewing their season ticket, no doubt there's a few on here too, but I'm hoping it will be a bit less and so a lot less depressing. Anyway ... this is what 'Sticky Stuff' is all about:
Been a match going Hibby for near on 45 years and a ST holder for about the last 30, shareholder and also member of HSL the whole 9 yards .... my attitude to following Hibs ( or any fitba club for that matter ) is quite simple, you stick with your club no matter what, so long as you have the health, time and disposable income to do so. If the club is doing well revel in it, if its being shite whine and bitch about it like there's no tomorrow. But if the club is being shite the answer to stopping it being shite is never, ever, to withdraw your vocal support from the stands or financial support from it's coffers .... I've yet to hear of a club that got better because it's fans deserted it.
You don't fail to turn up at a SC semi final, especially when it's a derby, simply coz you think the team will lose ... man up FFS
No it won't be good to see the Scottish cup come to Edinburgh if Hearts win this Saturday, it will be a sodding nightmare and I couldn't care less who they are playing.
So far as the club's 'kulchure' goes, at least for me, its this ...... Respect and preserve Hibs historical Irish heritage, especially it's name and colours, and the memory of the folk who overcame massive social and bigoted odds to establish it and keep it going but also accept that Hibs are an Edinburgh football club who play in the Scottish league and that 95% of folk who support it see themselves as, and are, Scottish ... no it would not be a good idea for Hibs to tweet a good luck message to both teams when Scotland are playing a vital qualifying match against the Republic of Ireland as one 'Scottish' club did a few years ago. In short, Irish roots, Scottish club.
Anyway, that's me and my attitude towards Hibs and what following the club should be about .... I'm sure some folk wont agree with all or parts of what I've written, but anyway that's me and at least it's honest.
