With today's snp sadly mirroring the liberal elite that govern at uk level, it's heartening to read Jim sillars taking a pop at the whole ruling class and puncturing some of the quasi racist tosh that informs some Scottish views of English social issues

you could almost have penned that yourself M, I do agree with the sentiment expressed but would add that as well as guarding against the elite's shut down of the debate by flinging around terms such as racist and bigot we also have to guard against the real bigots and racists!

Anyone hear the left wing characature that is Angela Eagle on Any Questions responding to the UKIP vote. In summary, she accused anyone who voted UKIP of being a racist! Typical of the type of Labour representation we get these days who doesn't take the time to understand the issue of working people. Given the strength of UKIP in the northeast, this could be a fatal error for Labour come the election.

South of the border labour seem to be the class enemy of working class people other than those employed in service to the state. Up here it seems less completely captured by the upper middle class, but if there is a collapse in state provided employment post independence it may well retrench to becoming a middle class party as in England.

They're all at it now.

BBC News - Labour MP sorry for saying Gillian Duffy

its disturbing that Labour prefer to brand working class people as racists rather than to understand the basis of their concerns.

As the article you quoted on the other thread pointed out it is now clear to everyone that Gordon brown was the bigot. And a bigot at the head of a bigoted party, running a watered down version of mussolinis approach, and prepared to systematically rend the social fabric - at the expense of the working class and potentially the social cohesion and peace of the country for generations to come - to gain electoral advantage.

It's incredible that you still have MPs coming out with the same pish. Will he be hounded from his post by a bbc and guardian led inquisition we wonder? Or will be compelled to retire to the study with a scotch and a revolver, as if he'd played the sun has got his hat on?

Sadly one doubts it, but we can hope I suppose that ukip force them to be more democratic and less hating of the proles.
