Anyone watched the new episode... turned it on just now thinking id give it a try and turned it off after less than 5 minutes.... the acting is absolutely horrendous and the new doctor is just dreadful.. its like a comic relief skit

If it was the one about the woman coming out of the piano to steal music or whatever. The plot seemed to make little sense.CGI in front of substance.

Hasn't it always been a bit guff? I always assumed that was part of the charm?

I'm coming from a position of ignorance mind you, like a few replies above, I've not seen it since I was a kid. Unlike them that was Sylvester McCoy playing the spoons and dancing a jig every time he outwitted a dalek.

Classic theme tune though. Really influential on electronic music and amazing to think it was made before synths were commercially available:

I've not seen it. Can someone tell me what the assistant is like.

I've nearly always liked the assistant.

Loved it when I was a young laddie...Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were both brilliant.
It's a show for bairns though.
I watched it again in the 00s and teens with my kids. During that period it went from good to unwatchable, with the kids sacking it eventually.

This was as it became ever less a show for kids and more a show for the political agendas of adults who won’t grow up and insist on stealing kids stuff away from them. There’s plenty of it around, from comic books to tv.

I’ve not watched it since parental duty obliged me but it sounds like it’s circling the drain of BBC manias.

I enjoyed watching it in the 80's as a kid, Sylvester McCoy and the 2 doctors that preceded hm. Storylines were always total nonsense though and the SFX a bit crap even for the time. The theme tune was always amazing though, I'm guessing they've mucked about with that and it's totally different now.

Ham as fuck... but that's my opinion..I watched less than 5 minutes and couldn't watch any more.. it starts with the tardis sitting in the street then she literally walks up to it and then goes inside..as you do.. next minute the worst doctor I've ever seen comes out and they are suddenly best pals.. utter dug shite

I can't remember ever watching an episode from start to finish, and have never even glanced at it in 40 years. Just not my thing.

The last three episodes of last season were actually quite good which is why I tuned in.But the episode the other day was crap.

It has changed very little and is still a banging tv theme.

I dipped out at Sylvester McCoy but Christopher Ecclestone sort of rekindled my interest and I have sort of dipped in and out ever since. But if the last episode is anything to go by I might dip out again.

That’s quite a savage critique but unfortunately I think it’s spot on
