What about sound of silence by the Tynecastle Atmosphere. What about sound of silence by disturbed![]()
Oh wellColdplay = Chewing gum for the ears.
Me tooLove that version
Oh my fucking christ. I take it all back. Damaged are fantastic compared to this absolute monstrosity
I thought Rolf's Stairway to Heaven was hilarious, but that was before we knew the truth.....The worst cover version of anything by anyone and I include Stairway to heaven by Rolf.
Me too. They do get a lot of snobby elitist derision.
No - the last remaining Village Person says he'll sue anyone who suggests they're gay in any way. I mean what twisted liberal would interpret YMCA, In the Navy, Macho Man and Fire Island as in any way gay. And nobody could reasonably interpret an album title 'Cruisin' as meaning anything at all.Very close.
They also made a decent fist of the Village People's "Go West."
Hang on...Am I allowed to use "fist" and "Village People" in the same sentence these days?
What kind of twisted liberal would tell a black artist what they mean?No - the last remaining Village Person says he'll sue anyone who suggests they're gay in any way. Awful cover. An insult to one of the great rock songs and bands.Of course, Hayseed Dixie's cover of "Ace of Spades" runs it close.![]()
“Ma heart was broken. saroo, saroo”Kill it with fire. That’s fucking abominable.
Me too. They do get a lot of snobby elitist derision.
Splendid!

My hole - I'm not familiar that song !I think they are shite, Good effort on a song they claim they had never heard. My hole.
Splendid!

Fleetwood Mac.Oh well![]()
I know. It's easy to hate Coldplay. But that shouldn't stop you.Me too. They do get a lot of snobby elitist derision.
Still waiting ………….Ha!
Go on now, admit it...... Viva La Vida IS a tune, is it not?
It is indeed a tune. One that has been lodged in my head as an ear worm for weeks since hearing it one Thursday evening in Tesco. It's got to the point where I need to take off and nuke Coldplay from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.Still waiting ………….

I don't mind them tbh.Can I ask, as a matter of interest, what people don’t like about coldplay :-
1 Chris Martin
2 Their obvious popularity worldwide
3 The lyrics
4 The instrumental ability
5 They don’t fit in with what they perceive to be good
6 All of the above .
p.s. has anyone ever changed their opinion about anything when engaging in debates on forums about anything ?
Me too, I've heard far worseI don't mind them tbh.
There are worse bands going around.
But they do nothing adventurous musically.
Does anyone though?I don't mind them tbh.

Good point Joe. Many of them find the formula that works, then keep churning out variations of it. Few reinvent themselves regularly in the way the likes of David Bowie did back in the day, sadly.Does anyone though?
Thought Dire straits were quite versatileGood point Joe. Many of them find the formula that works, then keep churning out variations of it. Few reinvent themselves regularly in the way the likes of David Bowie did back in the day, sadly.
Hat’s fair, god answerI don't have any strong feelings (or interest) in them. I do find his voice a bit mawkish.
They're just not on my radar.
Hmmm, I always felt their sound was defined by Knopfler’s instantly recognisable guitar playing. Having said that, I love some of his post-Dire Straits music.Thought Dire straits were quite versatile![]()
My thoughts exactly, and regarding my post on another thread regarding possible new ownership, my reference to M&G would be Chris Martin and Bill Gates when their version takes off around the worldBit of an outsider when it comes to Coldplay as I have honestly only heard two songs by them, Yellow and now Sunshine on Leith. I know, sheltered life.
Don't understand the OTT criticism of this SoL cover. Nowt wrong with it in my opinion.
My liking of the whole thing surrounding the gig, which is on BBC Scotland tonight
is less about the song but the mention of Hibernian fans singing it and the Proclaimers being great. Charlie and Craig have the full text of what was said on their Facebook page and with Coldplay having 40-50 million followers, like me knowing virtually nowt about Coldplay, I suspect that there are millions of their followers equally know nowt about the brothers, but may be curious now. Likewise I suspect many of them who hang onto their heroes every words may be tempted to fire onto the couple of videos of the rendition at Hampden?
Free publicity on both counts.
BIG G
Before or after you shut the curtains !If Coldplay did a charity gig in my back garden I'd phone the cops
That’s Soz DocHat’s fair, god answer![]()
I like this one, specifically because of Michael J. Fox rocking out on it despite his Parkinson's.
