Outside of Rangers, there is no club in Scotland big enough to topple Celtic. Their turnover dwarfs everybody else and one of the other things which separates them from the rest (and I know some people don't agree with this) is their expectation levels and the sheer desire for constant success which no other club has in Scotland. They are used to success and used to winning every week and that is the standard by which they are measured...no other club has this. It's not just about money, although that clearly is a major factor, it's also about what is expected of you when you are a Celtic player. You are not just representing a famous football club, you become part of a movement. I don't like what they are all about, but that is just a fact of life in Scottish Football.
Scotland is a small country of 5 Million inhabitants...Celtic are a gigantic club in that small country, to be honest that is as much of a hindrance to them as it is a sure fire guarantee of domestic success. Their imminent Champions League exit this week is a massive blow to them. Their fans are bored rigid from the one horse race of the SPFL and with Champions League football down the pan again and no Rangers for another season, watch their crowds plummet.
