6-1 to the Tottenham boys.

Celtc are shit. Pity Hibs didn't invest in the team when we had the chance. For the last time, possiblly ever again, the SPL is there for the taking.

Great business strategy Petrie, you twat!

They will still stroll the league.

They had a shite season under Mowbray and still managed to finish ahead of everyone other than Rangers quite comfortably.

They will but they are still there for the taking by any decent side. Unfortunately, there are no decent sides in Scotland these days.

I have a couple of Sheepy pals who were giving it big licks about how Aberdeen could challenge them this year.

Needless to say, when I reminded them of the fact they couldn't even finish above Motherwell despite having one of the biggest budgets in the league last year they weren't too happy.

I had a look at the line-ups for this game. There were only three names in the Celtc side I recognised, and one of them was Craig Gordon and the other that guy Pukki. The latter is so bad he wouldn't get a game for Hibs. The Spurs starting side wasn't exactly what you would expect to see lining up on day 1 of the Premiership but I would still expect it to give any team in Scotland an absolute roasting except Celtc's first pick.

Wouldn't read too much into this friendly result, although it's always good to see that filth getting a leathering. O sweet Jesus, how I hate them!

It's far too simplistic just to advocate a club throwing cash at attempting to win the league. Celtc will stroll it because they have more money and can afford a bigger pool of players [who's quality is questionable but is still higher than most other players in Scotland] and they will lose less games in a season.

Teams that try to buy their way to the league will undoubtedly come a cropper here and there in the season and how do you think they would react once the season is finished, they havent won the league and they have run up a wheen of debt? The likelihood is that they would draw in the purse strings and try to get back to where they were before they splashed the cash.

Also, winning the league is only the start. You would have to continue to throw money at the team to ensure you stayed at the top otherwise what would have been the point. We cannot do that [Petrie or no Petrie] as I do not believe we can bring in enough cash season on season to allow us to challenge successfully over any period of time.

Good post Dub.
Without having a 60'000 seater stadium and a fan base to fill it, no team will be able to compete with them long term.

There's always a small chance for a single wonder season but we know how rare those are.
It's the state of our game up here.

Outside of Rangers, there is no club in Scotland big enough to topple Celtic. Their turnover dwarfs everybody else and one of the other things which separates them from the rest (and I know some people don't agree with this) is their expectation levels and the sheer desire for constant success which no other club has in Scotland. They are used to success and used to winning every week and that is the standard by which they are measured...no other club has this. It's not just about money, although that clearly is a major factor, it's also about what is expected of you when you are a Celtic player. You are not just representing a famous football club, you become part of a movement. I don't like what they are all about, but that is just a fact of life in Scottish Football.

Scotland is a small country of 5 Million inhabitants...Celtic are a gigantic club in that small country, to be honest that is as much of a hindrance to them as it is a sure fire guarantee of domestic success. Their imminent Champions League exit this week is a massive blow to them. Their fans are bored rigid from the one horse race of the SPFL and with Champions League football down the pan again and no Rangers for another season, watch their crowds plummet.

Until we go back to playing each other twice in the league no team could beat the smellies or a top flight huns over a season.

Thats the first step for getting our game back on track in Scotland otherwise the game continues to be a nonsense.
