Two explosions gone off at the finishing line apparently, just as the amateur runners were filling in!
 
Fucks sakes; relatives of Newton School shooting victims were in the VIP area at the finish line.

WTF is going on with this world
 
A third explosion at the JFK library has been confirmed. It's being treated as an 'ongoing incident' with people asked not to congregate in groups and to go to their homes and hotels.

Hopefully museum is a false alarm - happened in a mechanical room. Odd target and the sort of place where machines go bang now and again. That's assuming mechanical room means a machine / plant room rather than an exhibit.
 
From the category of why I have hope. "MSNBC is reporting runners who finished the marathon kept running to Mass General Hospital to give blood immediately following the completion of the race."
 
I can't independently confirm, however despite Boston PD earlier statement via AP, there are reports 2 individuals are now in custody.
 
Some horrible photos going around on twitter and Facebook. One of a seemingly dead girl and her boyfriend with her and another of a guy with his legs blown off. Terrible.
 
They are officially reporting one of the deceased is an 8 year old girl. And now CBS news is officially reporting one of the individuals detained is a 20 year old Saudi national who is 'cooperating with law enforcement and denying any involvement'.
 
Heartbreaking stuff, there really is no need for this shit it in the world. Wouldn't surprise me if this was some gun nuts, making a statement. The death penalty is too good for scum like this. They should chop there arms and legs off, and let them spend the rest of there life in prison. I know that's what I'd want if I'd lost a limb, due to these sickos.

I think anyone who has run a marathon will understand this. Well done, Bill.

This is going mental now - police chasing one suspect having killed another, failed bombing at MIT with a campus policeman killed, reports of 'massive shoot out' in Boston suburbs and fleeing bomber(s) throwing backpack bombs into the road as they go....
 
Looks like the bombers are Chechens - feck knows what that will lead to. I have to say I suspected domestic terrorists or apolitical nut jobs of the kind more usually given to shooting up their school.

good. that should stop any conspiracy theories gathering steam (as opposed to him getting shot). I don't think there is any reason to question that these guys did it. I just think the craft thing is very odd.

Not really. He needs to be tried, but given murdered cops, gun battle, bombs lobbed from his car, there seems little need to invent alternative perpetrators.
