I 'd go for Annie Lennox out of that list

From the list - Annie

Personal choice - Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins)

Song to the Siren.
One of my all time favorites.
Brawsome

Maggie Bell/Stone the Crows. Saw them in 1971. Would not have categorised as 80's. Voted for her anyway.

BIG G

BIG G

Stone the crows was a 60/70s band Big G, I only put the band names in for association purposes, in case some people were having a little memory loss. Maggie was solo in 80s, Not that she done much but did do a duet with B.A.Robertson.

Read some interesting things on wiki about Eddie Reader, which ill copy here

Reader is writing a book for publication about her great-uncle Seamus (or James) Reader, who was head of the Scottish Brigade of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, when the Irish War of Independence broke out in 1919, later becoming a founder of the abortive Scottish Republican Army, which attempted to replicate the Irish struggle in Scotland between the wars. On Facebook, she posted that he: "was in command of 4,000 Scots involved in the Irish Rising build-up and the Irish war against The British state. In telling the story I felt my ancestor was passing the baton to me to tell the truthful story of this time" Reader has been an advocate for the Yes Scotland movement, campaigning for a Yes vote in the referendum for Scottish independence from the United Kingdom.

Annie has the voice of an angel.

Reader for me too, with hon mention for Lennox.

ER has a really smooth, warm timbre to her voice and I feel that her ability to perform different types of music outweighs AL's equally sonorous tones.

She's also a bit more street - and a bit less Bono - than AL.

Female alts/baritones just walk all over their male counterparts imo as they lack the gravel that comes with the male voicebox.

PS A wee mention too for not-so-poor wee Sheena as best commercial soprano?

Fay Fife The Rezillos?

Spoke to my younger brother about this, he said listen to Pandora from the album Treasure with your headphones on. Oh boy she's very good. Liz Fraser gets my vote.

She is a very underrated vocalist in my opinion. Very unique.

Voted Annie, but was a big fan of Deacon Blue too.
