Because. Fish and Chips. With Salt n' Sauce

You’ve just been going to the wrong Chippies mate. Chippies back home in Lancashire are very much Chippies and in general serve all sorts. But maybe not Pizza Crunch or Chippy Sauce I give you that. 😅
In my experience, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire chippies were mainly as I described! And Somerset actually!

Never ventured that far. Next trip is Cullen for a couple of weeks in August so it’ll be Drifters.
Was up that way last summer, and yes when I ventured into Cullen I had to consume some Skink, which was top notch.

I was staying in Buckie.

Didn’t.

It’s 00.10 on Thursday morning, im half pished, working in the morning and now im in the mood for a battered sausage supper with loads salt n sauce 🙈🙈🙈

Aye. Cottage booked on the clifftop overlooking the Moray Firth. Great beach and plenty of places to take the dug for walks
Nice one it's beautiful. Thought you might have known people there, especially an old mate of mine who's one of these guys who if he was in Outer Mongolia he would meet someone he knows 😆

Decision is made. After work I am going out to the beekeeping place to give them water and on the way back am buying fish, fizzy water and gluten free beer and making a massive mess in the kitchen.

But roasted potatoes rather than chips as it is better for reheating. Take the hit on cooking in tropical conditions now and save myself tomorrow!

If you venture further up the coast to Hopeman you might enjoy a meal at the Bootlegger’s Bothy with a great sea view and a well-surfaced 6 mile round trip walk to Burghead and back with a good chance of seeing dolphins close to the shore.

Was there a few weeks ago. Been frequenting the area for 20 odd years. Used to have a static caravan at North Alves. Bootleggers is a bit pricey. Miele’s chippy and ice cream shop used to be good in Hopeman but it changed hands years ago.

How did it go. Fishy, sweaty feast tonight?

Well, I bought far too much and there is enough for today too! 😄 🐟

Big tray of roasted potatoes, carrots and our own onions with our own garlic too.

Yes was very sweaty, hot work. I needed beer to survive. It was nice. To replace all the fluids being expelled from my skin of course! Didn't finish the cooking in the end until about half nine at night.

Seem to remember visiting Cullen and the youth hostel there when 13 or so on a bus and hitchhike basis.

Chucked mesel from bridge into beautiful pool of clear water on one side. Magic.

Or was that no Cullen? 🤔

Hopefully it was the wee one in the background? Either that or you were a real daredevil.

Thx for that!

Aye, the one in the background looks about right... but seem to remember it being on a main road into town.... so might be somewhere else entirely after all, I'll have a wee think again :grandpa:
