Anyone heading to Florida

good question. The paper part carries endorsements so thats the most important. If you have time, I'd get the photo part too.
J IDP recommended as, in the event of an accident, some insurance companies will insist on seeing one. Additionally those licences which do not incorporate a photograph need to be accompanied by photographic proof of identity.

R USA (Florida) compulsory IDP 1 January 2013
A law introduced in Florida, USA, on 1 January 2013 requires all persons who hold a licence issued outside of the US to carry an International Driving Permit along with their national driving licence. Without an IDP, a driver is therefore driving without a valid licence. If stopped, law enforcement has the options of:

  • Arresting the driver and taking them to jail
  • Or giving the driver a citation with a mandatory court appearance
Looks like old paper licence will be ok. Always put off getting one as I grudge paying for renewal every 10 years. Worst bit is it would only be 2 1/2 renewals until old licence expiresgrandpa
