Bad news for me...I've got a ticket for a gig there on 1st April ( Springsteen tribute band).
Maybe I should have realised something was up by checking the date of the gig at the time !

Yep...the Springsteen Sessions. They are from Glasgow and are excellent.
I've seen them about three times and was looking forward to this one.

Used to frequent Buster Browns back in the day and the Citrus Club for that matter.
Sad to see the demise of so many good music venues and clubs from my youth.

Edinburgh Council are a joke.

Sorted that for you GM :thumbgrin

Aw that's a shame. Its a great wee venue. I saw Teleman in there most recently and the place was packed and bouncing.

Funnily enough, my weegie wife got a good natured booing from the home crowd for suggesting "you shoulda played Glesga" when the band mentioned it was their first time in Scotland. Sadly, it seems like more and more bands will be driven West when the most popular medium sized venues in Edinburgh are getting 86'd.

One of my pals is the lead singer/guitarist in a cover band called Chil and he is finding it harder and harder to find places to gig. Even pubs are having to refuse because of people [usually having just moved in to a flat above a pub] complain about the noise to the cooncil who rubber stamp a non live music ban on said boozer. These ****s in the council are ruining this City.

Do young people still go to see bands? I don't think it would cross my kids mind. Last one I went to - which was the first in a long time - I was worried about looking like an out of place old fart. I needn't have been.

The last gig I was at was The Men They Couldn't Hang at King Tutts. I hated it because I had an argument with my nephew before the show about Hip Hop.and I was fuming.I left early in a foul mood.

Just been informed that the venue for the Springsteen Sessions gig has been changed to the Citrus Club.
Tickets still valid. Hopefully the Citrus Club's apparent imminent closure isn't before 1st April !

Yeah. I'm a semi-regular gig goer and the crowds still seem to be a majority of folk in there late teens and 20s. Depends on the sort music your kids are into I suppose. There is probably a wider mix of ages at gigs these days mind you.

Me and the missus went to see Biffy Clyro in Newcastle recently. Pretty decent weekend and although I'm not a big fan, they were pretty good live despite taking their shirts off for no reason.

There were a few oldies there, but to be honest I couldn't give a fcuk.

I just like a 'live event' every now and again to remind me I still am.

These type of people totally annoy me and they exist here in Los Angeles as well. Me and the missus were out for a pre-gig drink with one of her workmates last night (who herself likes music and going to gigs) and we got talking about the lack of quality dive bars / small venues. Then we mentioned a place we'd been to several years ago and she moaned 'oh yeah, that place is right across the street from my apartment and I get woken at 2am at weekends by the people spilling out the place'. I really had to bite my lip and not scream at her.
