We probably did this back before the void but what the fook lets twist again as chubby might say.

You buy an album and its mostly decent but there are invariably filler tracks that aren't up to scratch. Of course that isn't a rule so it doesn't always apply.

Bat out of hell doesnt have a bad track on it. Nor does the soundtrack to lost boys.

What the fukk do I know. Set me straight.

Stone Roses eponymous debut.

Virtually flawless, and the most important record of my life.

Live After Death by Iron Maiden

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust

The Specials - The Specials

Ian Brown - My Way

Fabulous choice, and i might take a long time to pick a better choice.
I think every track will still give me goosebumps when i'm 99.
First off the top of my head in a slightly lesser way would be This is the Story and Sunshine on Leith.
I better go and think about this seriously though as i think this Thread could go into double numbers in pages pretty quickly.

Went to see them at Heaton Park last summer with a bunch of good mates. When that bassline from I Wanna Be Adored rumbled out at the beginning, it was a pretty special moment - the collective euphoria was quite something to experience.

I was 15 when that record came out, and it is the soundtrack to a lot of pretty formative events and experiences. I think Waterfall above any other tune I know can evoke feelings that come right from the bottom of me - I can really feel my youth, and it's both beautiful and sad.

The other track that can do it is one that has me reliving Australia in my early twenties - Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. Urban Hymns is patchy though, but when it's good, it really soars.

Appetite For Destruction - Guns n' Roses

Best debut album ever.

Oasis - Definitely Maybe

Several Springsteen albums come to mind immediately.....but Born to Run most certainly. For me the greatest album of all time.

Agree with you about Bat.....majestic album which still sounds as fabulous today as it did some 35 years ago when it was relaeased.

Beaten to it but The Stone Roses for me too. Every track brings back a different but strong emotion. original Glasgow Green gig was same day as Hands Off Hibs rally so it even has a Hibs connection for me.

Easy one...

The Who's Quadrophenia album.

From the opening track: I Am The Sea to the 17th track Love, Reign o'er Me, it's all just sublime.

I'm living the dream, i have tickets to see this wonderfull album going to be played live down in Liverpool on the 30th June... So happy!

The mention of the Lost Boys soundtrack got me thinking about great soundtracks too. For me, Easy Rider is an absolute barnstormer, ahead of the rest for its' sheer diversity:

Steppenwolf The Pusher
Steppenwolf Born To Be Wild
Smith The Weight
Byrds Wasn't Born To Follow
Holy Modal Rounders If You Want To Be A Bird
Fraternity Of Man Don't Bogart Me
Jimi Hendrix Experience If Six Was Nine
Electric Prunes Kyrie Eleison Mardi Gras
Roger McGuinn - It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)
Roger McGuinn Ballad Of Easy Rider

Class.

I think that that one, and "I had too much to dream last night" is the only two I've heard, to be honest!

Both excellent, though :approve:

Counting Crows - August & Everything After

Really good album, and every songs quality.

Bloody hell....i felt like greeting when i read that!:banger:
I'm 40 in April....where the hell did time go mate?
My mate from Lahndan town who is a Hibbie and Man Utd fellae went to Heaton....i genuinely wanted to smash his coupon in when he described how immense it was!!! I still get jealous to this day!:banger:
:pf:

Hehe, sorry man - but it was ridiculously good!

I'm 39 this year - there were plenty other 'guys of a certain age' at Heaton though - good company!

hunky dory/bowie fine art of surfacing/Boomtown rats was pretty good as well and yes agree with bat out of hell. sham 69/thats life had a few dodgy tracks but overall a very well worked album. sunshine on leith/proclaimers

Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys

Every song on that 1966 recording is a thing of beauty.

Also big shouts for these two which in my humble opinion would double as two of the greatest debut albums of all time.

Nas - Illmatic
The Gza - Liquid Swords
Raekwon - Only Built For Cuban Linx
Wu Tang - Enter the 36 Chambers

Oasis - Definitely Maybe
10 out of 11, in fact they should've stopped at 10 tracks. Married With Children should not be on there.

Pink Floyd "the wall" not just an album, a story. Truly classic

The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
Nirvana - Nevermind
Pixies - Dolittle
The Clash - S/T
REM - Murmer
Misfits - Walk Among Us
Blondie - Parallel Lines
Joni Michell - Blue
Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea

All perfect in my opinion.

It actually might well be Dave, i know her second one was called "bridges".
But first album as a debut was tremendous.
Every song with heartfelt meaning

Spot on Aggie. Same for me 100%.

... tho just last week a mate of mine sent me a demo of Shoot You Down. Its fucking outrageous. Left me bewildered. Totally driven by slow drums and bass.

Its better than the version that made the album. Shit you not.

Led Zeppelin II

Led Zeppelin II

Good shout

John Lennon - Imagine

I love that record but 'Sloop John B' ruins it. A daft sea shanty in an otherwise near-perfect pop album.

Any ode to John Blackley gets my vote. :yeah: I like the song, terrific harmonies.

Prefer Wild Honey.

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Isley Brothers - 3+3
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Van Morrison - Into the Music

Loads of great shouts already on this thread, would totally agree with the Nirvana, Springsteen, Stone Roses, Beach Boys, Oasis, and REM suggestions already made. I'd also like to volunteer:

Metallica - The Black Album
REM - Out of Time (could argue Automatic is the superior album but does contain weak-ish tracks)
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
