Question for the USA based members and anyone who knows. Why do yanks talk so loud? I've had an American girlfriend in the past from Sacramento and have travelled a good bit in California. I don't remember particularly loud chatter and certainly nothing approaching the decibel levels of yanks over here.
We've just left a cafe which was pretty much emptied by folk shaking their heads at the talk between 2 guys echoing round the whole room.
We hear it a lot here. Can't be all Americans but by fuck it's close.
Any particular states known for loving the sound of their own voices?

Maybe only me that's noticed it then? Again today in a cafe, 2 yanks 'chatting' just spoiling the atmosphere for everyone else. Is it arrogance/self importance? A complete lack of awareness? I'm starting to hate the *&*^.

Went on a Cribbean cruise some years ago and the ship passengers were about 60% Americans. Not a lot of shouty stuff, they were too busy piling their plates at the all- inclusive buffet (the size of some of the arses! I have never seen so many total eclipses).
They were excepionally shouty on the shore excursions though.

Another thing I forgot to mention. When you're talking to them it's as if they're Fox or CNN anchors. They seem completely incapable of NOT talking politics.

We had one in the pub last night.

We suspected he worked at Disney as one of Snow White's helpers! I don't know if it's any worse that you know it's there, you can hear it but you canny see it!

Another pub I'm a regular in openly mocks Americans with a series of signs/notices around the place. They lap it up and flock to the place even outwith the tourist season, we couldn't even get in for them during the festivals! I think it must have a mention on some holiday review websites that makes them seek the place out and squeeze their fat lardy arses through the double doors.

Royal Nip?

I worked with many of them offshore, particularly in the early days. I would say about 80% of them were loudmouths and about 10% of those were downright safety hazards due to their ignorance.

I don't mind Americans at all to be honest. I've been out with one from Seattle and one from Boston as well.

As my Canadian father-in law would say, 'you don't know whether to be angry with them or just laugh at them'.

It's a mixed bag in the Midwest. The most annoying ones are the birds that have all had a drink and just obnoxiously loud and squawk like a flock of seagulls... Makes you want to "Run" I'll get ma coat 😳

Sorry but I don't do social media anymore so limited in my options to vent. This time it's two again informing the whole restaurant how America has contributed to world peace by their campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq. More incredible still the deluded fuckers are now saying the Vietnam war showed the world how America can stamp out communism anytime and anywhere they choose. 🤔 Never mentioned Trump for a change.
Anyway sorry folks, must seem I'm obsessed but these dim witted, loud, arrogant bastards cannae half spoil a nice chilled drink or a meal here in paradise.
