Alan Henning Murdered

Rest his soul. Poor man trying to do the right thing, the selfless, decent thing. This only shows all too clearly the moral compass - or lack of - in this unholy barbaric movement.

****s of the highest order.

and now we await the usual suspects blaming this on America.

the only blame on the US is that they havent gone in and wiped these feckers out.

The western politicians, media and public still don't get it. Call IS what you want, they don't care. They want to kill us all. Not one of their gang? Simple, they'll shoot or behead us, ALL OF US, without blinking an eye. Wonder if the penny will ever drop just what they are all about?

They are preoccupied with sorting out which toilets transgender primary school kids should be using.

They are almost satanic in their 'perfect' embodiment of wickedness. Even heid the baw Islamist clerics generally support of Isil were demanding this guys release. Their calculated use of atrocity and disregard for limits - and it is calculated- is brutally effective.

RIP Alan; they can never have what you had, darkness has nothing, it's just the absence of light.

My fella knows his missus. Strange evening here.

As to the topic: Where does this end? If we obliterate the exact people Alan Henning and his ilk risk their lives to protect in the name of vengeance and righteousness then what the fuck are we doing? If we create more murderers and more martyrs than we kill - and historically that's always what happens - then what have we done to honour anyone's legacy or defend anyone's future?

Historically what usually happens is that jihadis win. That's why europe doesn't include North Africa and the levant.

How do we protect the people Alan was trying to protect, from the biggest killers of Muslims in the world; those jihadis?

You do what the Russians did. You find members of there families and start chopping them to bits, then send them parts. They are animals, they only understand violence. I'm a firm believer of the old saying "An eye for an eye" In this case it's a head for a head. This won't stop. How many more poor bastards have to go through this pain until they realize something has to be done. Sooner or later this will end up with boots on the ground, thousands of deaths, and countless billions spent.

That would be a logistical minefield. Where would you send the parts? How would you package them up? Would they fit through the wee window thing in the post office so they could go as a letter?

These things need to be answered before we even consider SuperT's suggestion.

Feck washing the dosh sending them bits, just video the whole thing and let them watch first hand. If they don't release the hostages keep doing it.

send 10 thousand gurkhas over there with permission to use their swords...should sort that situation out

Easy, just carpet bomb the areas where ISIL is active, bomb their training camps and their Internet cafes. Stop giving arms to any of the various militias out there, they are ineffective and can't be trusted.

What about - stop going there, stop reporting it, stop sending aid, stop sending soldiers, stop trading with the regions and stop accepting their refugees. Let's admit that the problems that those regions present are far bigger and more enduring than the solutions we have and will ever be able to provide. It doesn't really fit with our western ideology of being the crusaders of all that is righteous in the world does it? But do we give in or continue because our basic human morals and empathetic nature is far more advanced? I suppose, to take a really, really long term view - we should, but I think our generation and era should experiment with shutting up shop and putting our fingers in our ears, but it is very far from being the all accepting and all conquering culture that we have been conditioned to buy into, and that is a problem.

If I understand what you're saying I said something similar on another thread, they, the Arabs, need to sort themselves out and if that involves total western, eastern and other infidels withdrawal then so be it.

If my understanding of this case is correct then this poor guy wasn't even that close to where ISIL have their strongholds but it would seem, as is often the case, those who are kidnapped are traded between groups.

If aid is to get into these areas then maybe another way of doing so is using Arab agencies, like the Red Crescent(?), to move it the last bit and let them deal with the humanitarian issues too. Our, the west, aid agencies don't need to be there, the west does not have the copyright on aid.

So carpet bomb the people we are meant to be protecting?

It does sound like American foreign policy right enough.

It was burbanks suggestion I was quoting.

Sorry, i wasn't clear, what American policy are you on about? Ive done over 10 operational tours in Afghanistan and Iraq to name but a few and have never witnessed such a policy, if we are talking Vietnam WW2 ill give you that.
