I was 8 years old.
My dad and his mate Jock went to the game.
I remember my brother and I and my mum jumping around the living room when the final score came up on Grandstand.
She took us both to the foot of Leith Walk to see the open topped bus with the team parading the cup.
My dad came in late...shall we say slightly the worse for wear.
He took us both to the Ayr United game the following week-end when we won 8-1 and the then Ayr manager Ally McLeod described Hibs as playing like the great Real Madrid team of the early 60's.
I had the famous Evening News poster on my bedroom wall for years.
Happy childhood memories.

@Hibee Kev was there wi Whyteys auld man. Sneaked on the bus there and back. Great times. 
Got caught by a bunch of Smellies just on full time. Smacked in the gub with a bottle.
Understandably I’ve never had an affinity with them that some Hibs fans seem to have.

Fantastic day that was. I'm sure we had went through on the train.
I remember I had to mow the lawn that day, sweltering hot in my mind, but my Dad was doing the front hedge or summat - him a jambo who later pivoted to Celtc (?!) - and we had the radio on and it was sheer joy at the finish-up for me, and even Dad didn't seem too bothered that celtc had got beat - this was merely at the start of his change to celtc.
All the sweeter after the big loss to them previously.

I was 8 my mum and dad were at the game picked me up on there way back and we stopped at the Maybury seen the bus go past with the cup at the front

I thought I was the only person who (sarcastically) only ever refers to it as the "North British Hotel"
... Which, of course, is what it was called then.
Same with the Jolly Farmer. Got called The Royal (ED Outpatients) but it was still the Jolly for us Moredun boys.

Pat’s goal was a thing of beauty.
I wonder if I can ask a question to those of you who attended games back then - that video seems awfy fast, like the speed of the ball movement and even the players themselves. Is that an effect of the auld footage, or was it really like that back then? Mebbe a daft question, sorry if so!

As we left the ground ,a buckie or tawny wine induced celtic "fan" in a staggering stupor was waving an open razor.
Just missed slashing one of my brothers.
Back then they could not take getting beat without resorting to violence or as also happened back in the day and against us , invading the pitch, hoping to get game abandoned .
Fog even saved them one time we were in front. Game abandoned with a few minutes to go "!!
