3D printing of a complex lifeform

I have to say Stirling, I find the implications of this disturbing. If they can print a complex life form then one assumes it would be a relative doddle to print a simple one.

That being the case, if the gunts were to get their hands on one of these machines, we soon could be looking at 400k of the fuckers. And why stop there - consider a world with 40m gunts in it. The Darwinian forces that select against guntism would be overturned with dreadful effect. This must be stopped.

Indeed, a gunt printer can easily be reprogrammed to turn anything maroon to green.

It's happening. This allied with any type of consciousness download and upload could mean travel at the speed of light. I can see the next payload for a mars mission being a load of 3D printers.

It's an interesting one re conciousness - if you could take some sort of snapshot of a brain /body at atomic level and the print a copy - what would happen?

Wiki has a terrific article on the latest science.

The difficult bit to me is the 3D transference of the memory chemicals in the synapse and ganglions. How do you transfer a memory? Or if this is possible, I would be asking a more profound question.

Can I have the 3D printed memory of a threesome with Jessica Alba and Kelly Brook?

Print a new organ.

Must be capable of saving quite a few lives.

They are already doing this.

They recently fastened a functional 3D printed ear using cow cells on a young child.

Edit - If this type of technology does mature quickly, I hope it would be of benefit to people like this poor man.
