Pretty much how I see it. I wouldn’t put Lennon in the failure bracket but he, much like Collins, could make a good team better but couldn’t rebuild.

Sauzée, Williamson, Mixu, Hughes, Calderwood, Fenlon & Butcher all failed (for various different reasons).

So only 3 of the last 12 managers were taken by a “bigger” club.

Lol I'm sure by tommorow afternoon he would have been our number one choice and Appleton was never interviewed.

Yep that’s the point I was making. Far too many dud managers in the last 25 years. I like the idea of what we’re trying to do now in trying to make the job more of a head coach than a manager. We need to try and create much more stability in a club that has drastically underperformed compared to our budget and fan base

Quite embarrassing if true the sun now running a story why Appleton said no .
Don't know what to think about the club just now the last month has been a fucking shambles.

I feel that there is a possibility that perhaps for the first time that a minority of Hibernian season ticket supporters may attend at the weekend. Hope not obviously however the number of Season tickets being sold for next season will be dramatically less than this year. No rocket science required.

It has to be a possibility. Home to Hamilton, still no manager and a real negative vibe around the club. Again I go back to the obvious unifying character in all this. Stubbs till the end of the season. Suddenly we’re on a high, the Hamilton game becomes the game where we thank him for winning us the cup.
It’s almost becoming a no brainer.

I think McCoist is a better manager. Just my opinion. The Huns were an absolute shambles, that can't have been an easy situation either.

The article is garbage, contradictory, and just illustrates they are guessing because they don’t know. If Appleton and heckungbottom are briefing the journalists we don’t need them at our club anyway.

I thought ending up with our second choice was bad enough, but now folk are talking about Dean Holden as if that would be a good appointment. I'm sorry but we don't show up in our thousands and pay premium SPFL prices for this higher management shambles.
 
I'm assuming that it's the agent (same agent for both?) that's blabbing to the media, because Hibs don't usually say a word until the ink is dry (after the mandatory alterations by Rodders)
No idea what the salary is, but I'd imagine it is considerable. Expecting Hibs to pay for accommodation costs as well as a 12 month 'fcuk off payment' seems pretty exorbitant. Maybe expecting us to pay equivalent to Dan Sarf.

Whoever gets the jobs will be expected to be happy clapped in the door.

It's now looking likely we will end up with someone considerably less qualified (and likely less ability) than Lennon. Totally unacceptable to me.

If Lennon was expected to nurse Kamberi through and 'manage' him better, then I expect LD to do the same with Lennon, if the alternatives are a worse player/manager. She talked in the past about always having a plan B, a succession plan etc it being her job! This does not look like anything close to a plan to me. Her and GC can talk but it's starting to look like it's mostly a lot of that.

Why would Appleton's agent not be aware of the likely package before getting to over a week in the interview/negotiations process? The story of something being changed last minute makes more sense.

Probably scunnered with the amount of money they had to pay Lennon and co and amended the contract incase it happens again.
Regarding plan B she did try to have one approaching another candidate behind Lennons back.
 
How anyone still has any confidence in our shambolic board is beyond me. It's all the big bad agents faults, or someone wants too much money. Just like every transfer window, we leave it to the last minute, miss out on our main targets and then get left with the dregs. This is turning out no different.

Eh? He lasted 2 months as manager at Barnet, moved upstairs and then they emptied him. His last stink at Motherwell ended in disaster. Why would we possibly consider him?

Right now if the first 2 have walked away, rather than 3rd or 4th choice I'd pick Stubbs till end of season if he was willing short term, time to regroup from top to bottom.

Yeh and the minute any one suggests this whole episode is an utter shambles then the Trumpers start shouting fake news fake news and why should we believe the papers etc. Why shouldn't we?! They were the ones that revealed Lennon was suspended and missing the St M game in the first place. Hibs didn't bother. They seem to be close to the bone with most of their other stories too. Hibs have fucked this all up, not the papers.

Fake news? The latest article from The Sun on Appleton says “He was the stand-out applicant and it’s possible Hibees could yet return with an improved offer. But sources close to the deal have told SunSport talks are now dead.” - two sentences that contradict each other, which to me suggests they are guessing, and essentallly covering themselves regardless of the outcome.

I really like McCoist as a pundit, he generally has nice stuff to say about Hibs and doesn’t have the entrenched hun-bias that a lot of them do. For next Hibs boss though? Nein danke
 
Thinking about it they should just give the job to Stubbs - if he's willing - now on an interim basis until the end of the season then reassess the situation. For whatever reason the recruitment process is dragging on and this appointment would get most of the fans back onside and help save a bit of face (not that that that matters really).

Some talk going around that an announcement on a new manager is to be made today. EEN saying Hibs still expect a new boss to be in charge for the Hamilton game on Saturday. I thought when Lennon left that an interim boss till the end of the season might be the best solution and this could be what happens now. Half way through a season is by far the worst time to be changing your manager for so many reasons, and there will be substantially more managers available at the end of the season than there are now and the whole managerial situation can be reviewed properly then. Not in favour of Stubbs or any former manager coming back, but whoever it is we need clarity and a firm decision to be made very soon.

100% would go with an interim manager until the end of the season. I seriously think Steve Clarke would give us considerably thought after the season. He knows next season will be even harder for him and might consider a move while his stock is high.

Have we seriously got to the point where people who are waiting for an actual announcement of who the new manager is before losing their shit are the Fake News Trumpers? And the ones who are (possibly literally considering the hysteria in their posts) wetting their pants based on stories in the Sun are painting themselves as the seers of all truth? Extraordinary

Indeed they have. Funny how the sun has Appleton stalls over talks and the record has heck stalls. One or both is making it up. Who would have believed it. Why folk actually believe the papers after the cup final etc is beyond me. While the Lennon situation could have been handled better very few details as to what actually happened have been in the press yet everybody reacting to what's written. Absolutely ridiculous that the press can print anything and folk believe it. We got rid of a former celtic boss so the Glasgow press are gunning for us. Why hibs fans can't see through this is baffling to me.

My hunch is that journalists are taking a jump on the information they are given because I believe hibs were still to conclude interviews when some media were stating we had a first choice. It’s possible these guys are speaking to Scottish journalists not knowing that their opinions are being twisted and reported as facts.

I know Fenlon for example quickly became distrusting of the Scottish media and wouldn’t speak to them.
