I'm assuming from all that Hibs would be responsible for their own expenses, travel, hotels etc.?
Spot on. One thing I hate is when individual players are singled out by some people for blame when we have a bad result. Football is a team game and always will be. Hibs have indeed done well in these three ties given the time of year we are playing and the loss of key players. We are still assembling our squad for the season and I am confident we will have a strong competitive team for the season ahead.I am back after 21 hours travelling to and from Norway and watching Hibs. Whilst we are out of Europe, I was immensly proud of Hibernian's acheivements. It wisnae to be last last night, but the Hibs go marching on.
Blaming individual players is just wrong. We live as a team and die as a team, that is the players, club, management and us the supporters.
Don't forget, that's what clubs are GENERATING - not what's necessarily being ploughed in. Celtic charge around £400 per season book, at best, and 60,000 muppets are buying them. That, alone, generates them £24,000,000 a year before we count another bean. They earned £26,000,000 from last year's Champion's League, not including gates, hospitality or sponsorship, and our game gets about £17,000,000 from broadcasting (the majority is from Sky and goes to the Old Firm, with a sub-£2,000,000 pittance from the BBC).£181 million a year - most of it going to the Uglies - compared to the BILLIONS being ploughed in elsewhere.
Really?
Thanks - I want questioning the validity, I was just a bit stunned!I've got a map of europe with the relevant [at that time] data on who gets what from SKY. Scotland received £18.75M whilst Norway received £35M so saying they get double is pretty near on the mark.
Personally ,, I don't blame Efe for the loss to Molde , your correct we win and lose as a team . I think the argument is whether Efe can defend or not . Surely a defender 's number one priority is to defend and link up with the midfield ( we dont do hoof ball ) . Count the winning tackles in a game by each of our back three/five if SDG is there and I'd be very surprised if Efe compares well , also misplaced passes . All very well his runs up the park now and again and occasional goal , so it's down to preference . For some it's reliabilty where'as for others its errors plus occassional brilliance , you take your pick . We all know what Neil prefers . .I am back after 21 hours travelling to and from Norway and watching Hibs. Whilst we are out of Europe, I was immensly proud of Hibernian's acheivements. Yes I believe they get about 35 million for the TV rights. Saw a breakdown on another thread or forum. We are near the bottom of the barrel.
And celtic moan about lack of domestic competition affecting their performance in europeDon't forget, that's what clubs are GENERATING - not what's necessarily being ploughed in. That means that Celtic alone generated 37% of all the revenue in Scotland, and it's likely closer to 40% of it when we include all the other things we didn't mention; these include European gates, sponsorship, player sales, hospitality and merchandise. Who knows what CelticTV makes, and my 40% suggestion is extremely conservative.
We're potentially the only league set up in the world that has this disparity. It needs to change.
It won't.
A cursory glance at the numbers highlight that termination of our BBC deal would provide the opportunity to build a Scottish subscription service for football content. Even if we only picked the low-hanging fruit, it'd be more lucrative than the insult we get from the BBC.
I just wish we could get rid of the crooks that run our game.
I doubt there's a more useless conglomerate in any national institution in the world.
...and they and Croatia are for me are the benchmark nations Scottish football should be using to navigate the way forward. Here's one of those tv deal maps. Denmark is close to us in population terms...
Lifestyle is a major factor in that. The Scottish relationship with alcohol being one barrier and the poor engagement in sport and healthy activities in all but the middle/upper classes. All our world class sports stars are fairly affluent. Hoy, Grainger, Murray......and they and Croatia are for me are the benchmark nations Scottish football should be using to navigate the way forward.
It's a legitimate complaint. And celtic moan about lack of domestic competition affecting their performance in europe
Freudian slip?It's a legitimate complaint.
What frustrates me, is that they've deliberately chased policies that have exasperated the problem and then blamed everyone else for it happening.
The lack of self-awareness they show is absolutely astonishing.
I enjoyed the trip and was impressed at how the locals and Hibs fans got on. Very friendly atmosphere and lots of good Hibs lads there.
I met a chap who apparently is quite well known on here - and gets a hard time according to his chum. Two decent lads.
In fact that Underwear fella bought the 6 of us a bag of crisps unasked. It was a big bag too and probably didn't come cheap, so give the guy a break eh.
Are you drinking the vino tinto?
Who are you quoting and from where?
You're on the Fix?Its a long story, Undercover Elephant stuff!
You're on the Fix?
Not at all, still drying out on a number of levels after recent adventures!

And it's too expensiveAnd I still think we make it too hard for children to access sport at all levels. That’s a lack of coordination issue.
I blame the huge government cuts to council budgets. Every year it becomes more difficult to provide and main facilities for working class kids.
It's part of it. Every time their budget is limited there are only a few things they can trim as excess fat and there are other things they target to raise monies - the motorist, leisure facilities etcI blame the huge government cuts to council budgets. Every year it becomes more difficult to provide and main facilities for working class kids.
My view and experience is that it’s much more than money - there seems to be plenty of money at early point of entry and at elite level but not enough in between which is where most kids are at. That might lead me to surmise that supply is profitable at those points.I blame the huge government cuts to council budgets. Every year it becomes more difficult to provide and main facilities for working class kids.
I would say predicable and as much as it pains me and I genuinely mean this but watch this space come 4.50 ish tomorrowYou say flawed genius, I say unpredictable liability.
