oh

9 days in and your bet is all but down the toilet.
Hibs now 6 points ahead of 8th and
10 points ahead of 9th
Fair enough; i am indeed prone to pessimism!

or Meatloaf :3:
Not going there again :giggley:

I admit to coming out in a cold sweat this week when Bushiri was badly injured and it looked like Nisbet was away, neither of which I had calculated for. A good centre half signing in the next few days and luck with injuries should see us okay.

Hoping we can build on yesterday but with 2 days left was hoping we could make a couple of strong signings obviously the most important is going to be a DoF,we can’t move forward until this is sorted
I’m all for finding the right person but the decision to go down this road was made before the World Cup started 41 days + ago, come on Hibs at least give us an update please

If Livingston don't win against Hearts tomorrow Hibs will go 4th if they win against Ross Co on Tuesday.
Fuk that, mon Livi.

Hibs now 2 points behind Livi.
Hibs move up to 4th if they beat Ross County on Tuesday.
Hibs would likely to remain there given Livi play Celtic at Parkhead on Wednesday night.

Like players the best DoF candidates will be contracted until the end of the season at best.
We signed Jeggo without out a DoF.

Ferro sounds a possible.

Ferro and Jeggo :giggley:
Hasn't played since mid November after not being selected at Vitesse.
One things for sure negotiations won't drag on given we have to pull the trigger on at least one centre half on Monday or Tuesday.

Pretty incredible how terrible the league has been this season that we are still in the hunt for 4th. We really need to kick on from this weekends successes and get at least a couple of good quality players in the door as-well as hope the young lads get a chance and take it. Big game on Tuesday.

Hibs need to stack up the points in the next 4 games so that we are in a strong 4th position before we have to face the top 3 teams again.
Tough away games against Ross Co and St Mirren in the next 6 days to begin with.

3rd

Hearts are on a good run but that won't last until the end of the season. They drew a blank at Livi this afternoon.

9 points is doable.

Nah, Hearts have only lost 1 game in 14.
They will lose games to the OF and beat and occasionally draw against the rest.
In the 3rd round of matches their toughest games are todays game at Livingston, Home at Rangers in midweek, Away to Celtic, Away to Hibs and Away at Aberdeen. Their depth of squad should see them well clear in 3rd.

Today Replay thought he would be smart putting McKay, Snodgrass and Ginnelly on the bench to save them for the Rangers game in midweek. It didn't pay off which was amusing.

Hibs need to win a lot of points in the next 4 games given we have games against both sides of the OF after that.

Yeh ?? With all due respect the whole club can’t move forward until this position is filled
That is the starting point of a new beginning

Admire your optimism but I reckon we’ll do well to even reduce some of that 9 point gap by the end of the season never mind overhaul it.

It’s their strength of squad as much as anything, they can weather injuries and loss of form to key players much better than us.

A DoF will cost big bucks so the club need to get it right.
I'm guessing the right guy could command a salary of £250k a year which is as much as our best players.

This midweek we play County and they've got the huns. The gap could easily reduce to 6 points (or increase to 12 admittedly).

Maybe it is optimistic, but I also think it's the target the players should have.

Saturday's match and result were a complete one off.
Hibs played well, but I have not only never seen a worse Aberdeen performance, it's one of the worst efforts I have seen from any opposition team at Easter Road for many years. None of their players had any appetite for the game from the start.
We will have a much better perspective on things for Hibs after tomorrow nights game at Ross County and next weekend's match at St Mirren who have been excellent at home all season.
We have had IMO a poor season so far, punctuated with the very occasional good showing at Easter Road (Aberdeen both times, Livingston, St Mirren and good comebacks against Hearts and Rangers). That's why we are where we are in the league and very unlikely to get anywhere near Hearts for the second season running which for me is unacceptable.
Let's see how things go at what will be a very windy Dingwall on Tuesday night.

The gap could indeed close to 6 points but in the 3rd round of fixtures Hearts will have played Livi away and Rangers at home whereas we will still have those tough games to play.
One things for sure we need to win tonight given our tough fixture on Saturday.

Agreed re Aberdeen. The 3 headed goals they conceded were from wretched defending.
We need to and should beat Ross County but the wind could be a bit of a leveller. Hopefully Nisbet does his thing.

As you say St Mirren will be a tough game. I watched them play Hearts in back to back games recently and they were worth a draw in each. They are very direct and disrupted the Hearts backline with Ayunga and Main (who Robinson is somehow getting a tune out of). They also have quality in midfield in Baccus, Strain and Erhahon. I would take a draw although again Nisbets finishing gives us a chance to win.

This season has been a tale of injuries for Hibs. All of our best outfield players will have played less than half a season and Boyle far less. That list includes Nisbet, Boyle, McGeady, Magennis, Kukharevych, Bushiri with Miller and JDH also missing a substantial part of the season and Doig and Porteous have moving on. If even just Nisbet had been available all season we would have won far more games.
Since he returned we have won against the teams in 4th and 5th, beaten Motherwell and drawn with Dundee Utd.
In that time we have only lost to the top 3 teams so fair to say we are currently the 4th best team in the league and a win tonight would move us into that position with 14 games to play.

I see Erhahon is having a medical at Lincoln and the young guy Reid is away to Crystal Palace.
That will weaken St Mirren for Saturday although they are likely to bring some players in.
Surprised Hibs weren't interested in Erhahon.
