Which Marco Polo visited coming from Venice. The links between the two countries go back to then.

Will we see the world shunning China massively after this all finishes?

Like we're going to stop buying Apple and Chinese steel and coal?

Sorry Davy it may make a good/shit conspiracy North Italy guff on social media, however even before the “death ships” pulled into port at Messina, in Sicily many Europeans had heard rumours about a “Great Pestilence” that was carving a deadly path across the trade routes of the Near and Far East. Indeed, in the early 1340s, the disease had struck China, India, Persia, Syria and Egypt

Like I say Marco Polo was over there in the early 1300's,probably helped bring it back from China,he died in 1324.

Prince Charles tested positive.....
First positive thing he's ever done.

Bastard Boris has gone into a NHS hospital. That annoys me.

I'm not for a minute believing he doesn't have private healthcare insurance so why is he not using one of their hospitals? Its typical of the system. As soon as the shit hits the fan private healthcare insurance, private hospitals etc. go into hiding.

A couple of examples. The boob job thing where the implants were rotten. They had to be removed by the NHS. The private sector collectively shrugged its shoulders and said it's not up to us. The NHS, us, picked up the tab.

All operations carry a risk. If it goes wrong in a private hospital the patient is whisked into an NHS hospital to sort it out. Does the private healthcare insurance or hospital pay for the NHS treatment? Do they fuck.

I've heard, can't remember where so can't say how true this is, NHS England have taken over some private hospitals in England for the pandemic. Its costing the NHS millions.

I think it's ridiculous that footballers have been used in this way by the morally corrupt UK Government. Why isn't the media asking what these multi millionaire politicians such as the chancellor of the exchequer are doing.
They could start with Victorian Dad. Gonna make a killing(financial) after this caper.
But I daresay hes not alone .

The Nightingale Hospital building is costing between £2-3 million per month in rent.
From some concern in Dubai? Abu Dhabi?

Folk moaning about beggars- Romanian or Scottish- looking for spare cash in the Kirkgate is EXACTLY what *&*^ like JRM etc will be hoping for.

Have some humanity for fucks sake.

I've been told that most private hospitals are not taking covid patients but that could change.

When the Government struck the deal for 8,000 beds from Private providers Johnson, Halfcock and the Chief Medical and Scientific Advisers hailed it as some kind of splendid philanthropical gesture. It is costing the country £2.4M per day.

There are bucket loads of WW2 rhetoric out there just now, what is not talked about is that during the Second World War the government requisitioned country houses across the United Kingdom for the war effort. No house was exempt, with the grandest stately homes re-purposed to house everything from schools to maternity homes, from military hospitals to war supply depots.
14.5 million acres of land, 25 million square feet of industrial and storage premises and 113,350 non-industrial premises were requisitioned during the Second World War. The War Office alone requisitioned 580,847 acres between 1939 and 1946.

This War effort should have been replicated throughout the UK ,requisitioning all Private healthcare facilities.

Anybody saw the video supposedly showing full looking body bags all over the floor in a London hospital? I hope it's a very sick joke

Looks like that bodybag video was filmed in Ecuador.

Their PM was on the wireless yesterday joking about the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny being given key worker status. Cute, but my daughter heard it and asked me why the Easter Bunny was on the news, I explained, and now she's convinced the Easter Bunny is going to get Coronavirus and won't stop talking about it.

Google Myxomatosis and show her that - she'll soon see the bunnies have already had their version of Covid-19. If the Easter Bunny got through that, then there's very few things to worry about.

Although Easter itself brings some risks.

That's Japan finally gone to "state of emergency" in Tokyo, Osaka, fukuoka and surrounding prefectures.

Probably safe to say their response while not as dire as some was probably held off a bit in the hopes things weren't going to be that serious and take out the Olympics.

No great

No great
Not looking good for shaking as many hands as possible, getting a mild dose, couple of weeks off then showing the country who the boss is. Come back out, maybe get it all over again and decimate the herd.

Watched the lamentable Question Time. A right wing Tory and a right wing Labour person talking guff.

Darren McGarvey, and the splendid Ruby Wax were the only ones who made any sense at all.

I've got a bit of a quandary here guys and would like to know what you think.

My darling wife is in the shielding group. It's a real pain in the arse but I'm obviously more than happy to go along with the restrictions it places on us. She's is a keen but frustrated walker as she's not able to get out. Me not so much but I'd like to go out for a wee wander now and again.

The letter says I'm still allowed out and I do go out for work and take that opportunity to get the messages in. I come home and get a good sterilization!

Should I go out for walks or should I stay in showing solidarity with her plight?

I've stayed in so far.

Difficult one but for your own sanity you've got to do what you feel is right. If your mrs is okay with you going out for a walk you selfish bastard then go for a walk?

2/ Vaccines; Apparently a year or so away at best, however I have a feeling due to the total devastation this virus has caused worldwide that there will be a concerted and massively well funded effort across the globe to get a vaccine ready substantially quicker than is currently being talked about. I'm not a medical person or a scientist though so perhaps this is just wishful thinking on my part. When a vaccine is approved, we then have the not inconsiderable task I would have thought, of vaccinating 60 million people. How long would that take ?

I've copied this part of your post over here Greenmachine as I didn't want to go off topic on the other thread. Goodness knows what your notification will say. I might even break the Bounce!

You're right about vaccines, they're a long way off.

There are however positive noises coming from medical people about drugs that are already on the market that are being used for other medical conditions. These could be used to alleviate the symptoms of covid meaning fewer people die and making it more likely people will recover more quickly and with less NHS input.

Put it in the beer, and it'll take about 5hrs! Because sure as shit as soon as they lift the pub ban, the entire UK is going for a pint.
