Got an email this morning from Edinburgh City Council to say that all garden refuse collections in Edinburgh have been suspended until further notice. This is a service that we have already paid for separately and they are going to tell us how we can be compensated. Not quite sure what we are supposed to do with our garden refuse now ?, just stick it in black rubbish bags for the next few months I would expect.

And a LOT of gardens getting worked on...

Cheers for that. Last correspondence I had from them was saying permits were being sent out in March. Hadn’t received my permit or email saying it’s being suspended. Tried phoning them and after being given a hundred different press number now options, finally for someone to say there is nobody in the office due to staff shortages please call back in the near future!1585907184865.png

Bin men seem to be one of the few workers who can't isolate from each other. Seen 3 to a cab most days. I suspect their also getting hit with absences. Might see more of this if people cant afford to pay their council tax this year. I aren't upset because this is affecting lots of people..mind you, I live in a flat :sm113:

So do I..but it's a ground floor flat with my own front and back garden. Literally don't know what I am going to with the grass for the next few months. As i said the only option is to fill black bin liners an keep it somewhere for the duration or else put it out with the other rubbish.

Compost it? Get a wormery?
Grass clippings buried under soil gives off heat and helps seedlings sprout at this time of year.

It's growing season so hedges and grass will need taken care of more often. Lets hope they give us a few extra months as at the end of the day we've paid for a service we're not getting. I'm in a similar boat to you.

I do not get any garden waste collection at all, not even the option to pay for it as I live in a flat in Wester Hailes. This has been the same for the 12 years I have been taking care of the communal garden outside my flat.
I had very little options open to me so started composting and now have a compost bin and 2 wormeries. Maybe this is the time to think about changing our habits, why pay to get our waste taken away and composted so they can sell it back to us? The compost they make isnt even that great to be honest we had some delivered from FRM where the council tip garden waste and some from Tipperith. The FRM stuff was full of lumps of wood and weeds. The Tipperith stuff was proper black gold.

What a bunch o thickos!

Get a horse and share it around......

Being restarted in Edinburgh from May 11th apparently.....good news.
