Loving the big man's attitude, and the work he does for his team mates. His goal tonight took him to 11 for the season.

Injury is the only way I can see the Welsh Goal Machine failing to finish the season with 20+ goals. ????

I think he will. How he puts them in is more Ally McCoist than Ally McLeod, but he is there to score them. His work rate was superb tonight.

He shut me up tonight.

I like the big fella. Puts the ball in the net and has never hid.

Was impressed with his work rate and movement, thought he held the ball up very well.

Showed the right kind of instincts to be there to score his goal.

It's fits and starts with him - no goals in his first 10 league games, 7 in 5, and he hadn't scored in 5 league games before tonight.

I think a fair bit of that is set up, and I hope JR is realizing what works and what doesn't. Going by the last two games, he does.

Doidge had a good game last night...even in that awful first half he put himself about well, won balls in the air, and tried to make the most from the meagre service he was getting. He has a good habit of being in the right place in the penalty box when the ball comes to him as we saw again last night. Hamilton had done their homework on Hibs and snuffed out Kamberi and Boyle meaning they couldn't provide any proper service to the big man from wide areas. Scott Allan had an off night as well.
Like all decent strikers he will score goals if he gets decent service. Playing the system we played last night in the first half does him no favours.

He might y'know which absolutely boggles my mind.

His fits and starts goal scoring rate and rather ungainly method of getting his goals isn't pretty but maybe he just isn't a "Hibs style" striker... and maybe that's something we've needed/been missing?

If he gets 20 all arguments against are invalid really.

He scores ugly.But hey a goal's a goal.Probably will.

Every single time a Motherwell, St Johnstone etc gets a big bruiser up top that doesn't give defenders a minutes peace, we're always wondering why we can't find one....the ones we signed in the past didn't work. We finally have one who wins headers and is a nuisance - and getting (albeit ugly) goals.

I'm happy he's here, and hope he does get to 20!

Could be our version of Louis Moult. On course for a similar scoring record too. Big man stays.

He’ll get another 9. Nae bother ✅

I'm thinking the same about ugly goals but I've never much cared for the how they came. A scaff is as good as a worldy 30 yarder. Maybe not as pleasing on the eye but they count just the same.

I'm not sure about 20 goals. It will be close.

I hope he does , I'd love to şee him be a success

6 tae get. Get in ?

Reminds me of Keith Wright. Wright was always good in the air and knew how to score ugly.

This will turn into one of those league goals only to please some ?

A good return for his work rate over the last week for me. Well in big man.
Probably his 3 cleanest goals too ?

Big man puts a shift in, made many of us look foolish, well done Doidgey keep it up

Took his goals really really well. He’s really starting to bring a lot to the team, not just goals, but he impacts the game in general.

I would actually keep Doidge and sell Flo.

Make it 25...?

Boys just taken a little bit of time to settle in. Being in the right place at the right time is a skill in itself

The question now is not will he reach 20 goals for the season but how many more hat-tricks will he score?

⚽⚽⚽

I wouldn't be selling anybody just now?

Great performance from Doidge , Newell just keeps getting better too

Could do he was poor first half cant argue with his 2nd half , his header was a cracker.

3 good goals tonight, he puts in a shift, stuff doesn’t come off for him but At least he puts an effort in

Whty not keep both of them?

Good return with no penalties or league cup goals

Will probably score a last minute cup final winner v the Huns from a Newell delivery..

Who was the last Hibs player to score 2 hat tricks in one season?

My guess is Jimmy O ??????

Steve Cowan! Thought of Joe Harper but he scored a League cup final hat-trick but lost the match. Jimmy O'Rourke scored quite a few hat-tricks in 1972. Not that I'm old enough to remember mind! ?

Was thinking of him in terms of getting us decent money as i don't want to lose Boyle, although both are rumored to be leaving.

I think his target for season was probably 20 goals. No reason why he can't get 25 as plenty of games to go - a couple of doubles or hattricks along the way hopefully.

Really hope so - he seems a great lad

Just a thought but I think Christian Doige, post Heckenbottom, is very similar to Chris Killen.

I have wanted for years to see Hibs have a big, strong goalscoring striker who can work a defence, can link well with others, is decent in the air and can lead the line well...and now it would appear that we have one despite an underwhelming start to his Hibs career. Sometimes it takes new players a while to settle in to a club particularly when they are coming from another country. I am as guilty of this as anyone, but we really should stop this idea that new players have to hit the ground running and be an immediate success or else they are instantly branded as duds.
Doidge is no world beater, but he clearly knows his way around the penalty box and most importantly has now shown he can get goals at this level.

I agree it is ridiculous the way players are written off so quickly. It’s great when players click instantly, but that’s never going to be the case for everyone. Doidge has got better as the season has gone on, if he keeps it up he’ll be our version of Cosgrove at Aberdeen.
