Who now?

David Stendel sounds interesting Daniel Stendel is standout candidate for Hibs job despite Barnsley sacking, says former Easter Road midfielder

not bothered re knowledge of scottish game, think Roger or Grant Murray could provide that as possible first team coaches.

Agreed - if Grant Murray is going to become the Assistant Coach, and Steven Whittaker is set to be the First Team Coach, the new Head Coach doesn’t need to be an expert on the squad of the league.

What the new Head Coach does need to do above all else is energise this team, give them back some confidence and freedom, get them playing well and winning.

Any new manager should be allowed to bring in his own Assistant. I don't think it's a good start when clubs say any new manager has to work with an Assistant already in place.

Agreed. I'm fairly certain though whoever gets the job will be allowed to bring in his own number 2.

I'm sure Stendel is a very good coach, but will be amazed if Hibs go for another guy pretty much in the same mould as Heckingbottom in regards to knowledge of the leagues in Scotland.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ross is announced today..

Agreed. Now is not the time for another experiment or "project". I get that every new appointment carries a risk (Terry Butcher seemed to tick all the boxes etc) but some are more risky than others.

I am a romantic (aren't all Hibees?), I'd far rather we put the house on an exciting proposition than a middle of the road steady the ship type with good knowledge of the Scottish game. Not that I am saying that Stendel and Ross epitomise those 2 options (I don't know them) but I wouldnt be narrowing the field of candidates by applying criteria that'll supposedly reduce risk. I like Hibs to be imaginative and bold in our play and choice of manager rather than fearful, conservative & Yamish.

I didn't think we could get him anyway but he may be going to Stoke.

Surely to God we don't want another cu*t who managed barnsley!!

Was there a reason John Collins was watching the Hibs development squad play Celtic the other day. I didn't think he worked for Celtic anymore?

I don’t think he works for any club, possibly just keeping an interest in what’s happening.

Someone said he works for Celtic. Scouts youth players apparently. No sure if it's true though.

Pat Fenlon 16/1 in bookies and “pie n bovril on twitter . shows the utter garbage folk type and as for bookies, they’ll chuck any old shite upC6178617-5E5F-4784-BB12-6D083DD6C712.png

To be honest I'd go with bookies before I'd go with pollsters.

Pollsters seem to act with impunity from one election to the next and great credibility despite regularly fucking up. They still get paid by their sponsors.

Bookies would lose actual money if they fuck up. There's no poor bookies.

Im sure if you put a tenner on Stubbsy for example his price would come down to about 8/1 lol

Fear not, gentle folks. HARRY KEWELL was at McDiarmid Park today. The Hibs job, he says, is "another option" for him.

A year at Crawley Town (English League Two) and 2 months and 10 days at Notts County (same league) eminently qualifies him to step into the job at ER. He left County 22nd out of 24 ...

Who the hell do these people think they are?

Hibernian manager's job 'an option' - Harry Kewell
Harry Kewell: Notts County sack manager after 10 weeks

Don't get ahead of yourself just yet.

No thanks to Harry Kewell. Fantastic playing career but no evidence to support he'd be a good first team coach. Some ridiculous names being mentioned like Klinsmann. If only!

Get tae fuck Garry

Still think an approach to van bronckhorst wouldn’t be a bad shout !!!

Ex rangers player.
Without debating whether he'd be any good, think of the narrative/distractions.
The ONLY questions he'd ever be asked would be about Der hun and his days there....
No thanks.

I would be asking Steve Clarke if he fancied it,although I think we will end up with Jack Ross just my thoughts.

If any manager comes in and does well they will be linked to bigger clubs not just the huns !!!
Already been talked about as a potential replacement in years to come at both Manchester clubs so why not take the chance??
Out off all names mentioned not 1 I have confidence in so why not throw it out there to someone who could make the difference in my opinion

Feel free to throw in any name you like.
I just pointed out one of the many downsides (not reasons GvB won't be our) next manager.

It;s a long way to come to watch a man play 10 minutes with the game dead and buried.

Actualy, it was a little bit more than that, if you check what he said to the BBC.

"Even prior to Paul Heckingbottom coming it was an option I'd looked at because it's a great club," Kewell added. "It's got a wonderful facility, it's got a unique type of players. The league itself is interesting."

I really hope we're not scraping the bottom of the barrel of EFL coaches this time round. HB was bad enough. No more, please.

Kewell can bolt never liked him

Can't see anything in Kewell's CV to suggest he has anything to offer?

I mentioned Clarke a couple of days ago and I'd not be unhappy with JR.

I thought today we played as though the players were given free reign to express themselves to their best and how and where they wanted ... and they revelled in it. They were given guidance rather than coached to within an inch of their lives. I've been an advocate for that forever.

If that's what happened I'd be in no rush to change it. I can see it being the future.

The club has invested heavily in a recruitment team, a fitness team and fuck knows how many other teams with the essence of Hibs and Lawrie Reilly running through them. Why then do we hire a coach that coaches the players into little boxes?

There will come a time when the coach does little more than guide the team towards that ethos.

I quite liked the way Real Madrid played in the early 1990s too which seemed to embrace much of that.

I would be happy with that also Jack then review the suituation in the summer.

I see John Kennedy was mentioned this morning.

Was it not Roger Propos who was the fitness guru?
Collins brought him in from Fulham and he was a real gym bunny.
I bow to your superior knowledge.

Would be a very good contender but can't see him leaving Celtc.

USA got shot of him. :lookaround:

I’d honestly be tempted to give it to May & co until the summer, as none of the names mentioned are particularly exciting right now. These are the top 5 favourites according to the sack race:

Jack Ross - does he play the kind of attacking football we want to see? I don’t know, but I’m not convinced he does. Plus he massively favours a 4231, which we all know simply doesn’t work at Hibs. Could be the right man, but not the outstanding candidate some believe he is.

Motherwell’s consistently limp performances against the Glasgow sides, particularly Celtic, is my main concern over Stephen Robinson getting the job. Maybe that’s something that would change with a “better” squad, but again I’m not convinced. That said, he changed their style of play and promoted young players, so I’m not against him getting the job.

Harry Kewell - naw, just naw.

Henrik Larson - never done much as a manager, so again, naw.

Nathan Jones - too many similarities to Hecky: doesn’t know Scottish football, done well at a small club in England, before failing at a big one when given the chance. Naw.

As I see it May & Co are the only feasible management team "till the end of the season".

I can't for the life of me see why an established manager/management team would even consider such an option. Can anyone enlighten me?

Maybe he is ready to make the step up mate, comes across very well and is well respected.

I’m not suggesting we appoint someone until the end of the season. I mean that we could do worse than wait till the summer, while letting May manage the team for the rest of the season.

Thought you wanted an experienced manager? Kennedy has never been a manager so would be a massive gamble.

Nathan Jones

I think that would be a supremely bad decision. He’s been gone too long.
