When your striker gets slated on the BBC for his “ineptitude” you know it’s time to start looking for new strikers although to be fair what I think we really lack is a most robust defence and a return to three at the back.

News today is that doidge is shite, gunts are shite, and Elvis is dead.

I hope they nasty Hibs supporters who gave up a day and the fat end of £50 for ticket and travel didn't put too much pressure on doidge to sco or for Hibs to see a 1 goal lead out with 10 minutes to go, against 10 men against a team in their worst run of form for years.

Good inter play and creating chances is the only improvement, but these don't win you games and that's why we are in the position we are in and that's down to Heck & Co. He should have been gone before the Celtic match but our current regime don't have the balls to do it mate, what a mess!!

Listened to reports from the game on BBCsportsound.
So can only comment on what I've heard and read.
The team. Well nobody looked to be playing out of position, looked pretty balanced with players available.
According to radio we played well, good link up play, plenty of chances.
We lead the game for a long time against 10 men.
Haven't seen goals so don't know if it was yet another defensive error.
Heard the chances that Doige had, commentators were going crazy with the one were he should have squared it to Allan. Seems a lot of chances squandered by someone who was used to playing a lone striker role for Forrest Green and regularly scored this I take it was the reason Heckingbottom or whoever signed him, as a lone striker.
Since this seems to be his preferred system does Heckingbottom
Keep faith with Doidge which in fairness doesn't seem to be working.
Stick with 1 up front and replace him with Flo or Oli none of which could fill that role.
Or go for broke and try a combination of 2 of them upfront.
Unfortunately he seems to be a one trick pony so looks like lone striker for the foreseeable
A lot of us would be happy with a draw today before the match but again we find ourselves in the ascendancy only to come crashing down to earth by a late goal.
I'm not saying Heckingbottom was right in not going in for the kill but we should have been able to hold on for a win.
If Heckingbottom does stay and plays the same style then I'm sorry but i don't think any of our current strikers fit the bill.
Something has to change.

Watched in on Hibs TV. We started well and drifted in and out of the game. Against ten men and a goal up, there’s no excuses not to see the game out. Most of the blame has to be out on Doidge, but Heckingbottom should have gone with two up front when they went down a man. Go for the killer second goal. He’s too defensive IMO.

Yeah definitely. I’d have gone with Shaw and having him and Kamberi up front, but could also go with bringing Whittaker on. He’s been a stand out the last couple of games. Fucking Newell though, he’s an empty jersey.

Celtic haven't beat us at ER since 2014, we rode our luck against them and scored a fluky goal that was a cross, nice inter play and creating chances doesn't win you games, there is slight improvements I will give you that but the bigger picture is we have a management team that won't get us the results we need. They won't change their comfort zone tactics with only one up front unless we are getting beat or when it is too late, two points from the bottom of the league, not finishing teams off after they go down to 10 men with a good 35 minutes left in the game, I would have expected us to create chances as there would be gaps, but the main point is we didn't finish those chances, even when they made their subs they still had 10 men and we couldn't beat them.

Doidge works hard, wins headers, holds build up well but can't score for shit.

Kamberi makes decent runs, can score but can't hold up ball, never wins headers and isn't strong enough.

Agree with that, although we need two strikers up top also, PH took Mallan to Barnsley yet he couldn't get in their first 11 yet he is one of the first names on our team sheet, Alan needs better quality around him, jury still out on Vela too even after yesterday's performance, he was too weak which was evident in the other games, it's a complete mess top to bottom.

In fairness I was wanting him dropped tae but as I said the central midfield is coming good. Say we do drop him and play 2 up front and our wingers perform the way they are the strikers won't get chances. Presuming it goes to a 442 that is.

Your correct about the wingers, they aren't doing enough for me. When Boyler does come back I just hope it's the old Boyler we get and not the one I witnessed recently. Sorry I don't agree in relation to our midfield as I mentioned previously.

I wouldn't say all 4 of Doidge's chances were sitters (in the Jason Cummings at Starks Park sense), but for me has to score at least 2 of them. Fair enough one of them Lewis is out quick and another he's off balance but the other 2 are clean-cut. The final one was absolutely criminal as he simply has to score after electing to ignore Scott Allan

I certainly think the manager has to find a role for Kamberi in this set-up which brings out his best qualities as a player. Either on the left with the license to get forward and into the penalty box, or dare I say it in the Scott Allan role just behind Doidge. Flo is so much better when he is facing the goals running with the ball than he is with his back to goal and having to protect the ball. I know he is a moody bugger and can't be an easy player to manage, but he is also far too good a player to have sitting on the bench every week especially when we are struggling so badly for goals.

Flo is one of our QUALITY players , having him on the bench is quite frankly incompetence ?
