Tv series

Got Netflix a few months ago as I got a new smart TV. Watched some amazing programmes not least of which Springsteen on Broadway which was just phenomenal. As a huge fan since my teenage years I would say to anyone with just a passing interest this is the real Bruce Springsteen and what he and his songs are all about, not the all American rocker image that has been portrayed for too many years.
Also watched the Bobby Robson documentary (brilliant) and I am in the middle of watching Sunderland 'till I die a great fly on the wall documentary about the club and their eventual drop into League One.

Has anyone watched better call Saul?

Yep it's really good. I will warn you though. First season is a slog to get through. First 4-5 episodes are slow, almost gave up. Definitely worth sticking with if you liked Breaking Bad.

Not a huge Springsteen fan GM but really enjoyed the doc, and the book too. I wonder how different every night of the show is? He's clearly enjoying the show himself, but I know he varies his stage sets quite alot for the fans and his own benefit, so I guess he might have done the same thing with this?

I did like breaking bad. I might give it a bash next.

I agree. It's really slow-paced but that's not a bad thing. The character development really benefits for one thing. Discovered the other week that Charles McGill is just David St Hubbins from Spinal Tap! Mind = blown.

The Shield was quality. Like how Sons of Anarchy and The Shield kind of exist in the same universe and share some of the same gangs, and a lot of the same actors etc.

He changed the set a bit for different nights but not by much...certainly nowhere near as much as he changes the set during a major tour with the E Street band. The Broadway stint lasted a year and a half and was completely sold out. I was emotionally drained by the end of the two hours just watching it so how he managed to put himself though that night after night was unreal. The Broadway run finished around mid December last year. Tried like hell for a ticket for ages but ridiculously expensive and practically impossible to get unless you knew the right people.

Aye, had the same issues for clients, even a tout I know couldn’t get any. Which is a real shame, and you’d expect Springsteen to be against such an elitist crowd

If anyone’s not watched it yet I thoroughly recommend the leftovers. Probably the best thing I’ve seen on tv.

Not a TV series, but if you get the chance, watch Free Solo. Boy's mental.

No sure if anyone watched Spy prog Deutschland 83 on Ch4 when it was on but the 2nd series,Deutschland 86 is on More 4 at 9 tonight.

Ach sorry - I misread - I did watch Deutschland 83 a couple of years ago will give the new one a whirl.

Try rebellion on Netflix, binged watched 5 tonight, superb. Up the Rebels!

Watched the first three of Ricky Gervais' Afterlife - thought it was excellent. Poignant at times, laugh out loud funny at others.

Just finished After Life, I am not a big Ricky Gervais fan but that was superb television.

New series of Alan Partridge on BBC1 is great! (assuming you liked him previously)

Starting season 2 of WestWorld. That show is a fucking nightmare to keep track off.

Line of duty.
Shit hot. Watch the previous series before the new one starts. Puts Luther in the shade and that was a good series.

If you like Italian crime series like that try Romanzo Criminale set in the 80s in Rome. Or Subbura. Both good.

Gommorah is excellent, good news it's coming back.

Also on netflix, Cricket Fever is pretty good, like the Man City or Sunderland efforts, but follows The Mumbai Indians.

Really enjoyed that.

I’m watching between on Netflix the now. Also the haunting of hill house. Both are decent enough.

Is the McCann doc worth a watch?

Line of Duty 5 started tonight. Straight away mair twists and turns than a twisty thing turning. Stephen Graham joining the cast as what appears to be an undercover operative gone rogue...roll on next Sunday

I have watched Italian crime stuff, American Italian stuff, Scandic series however rewatched 4 series of Line of Duty again recently, over a few week period Without a doubt the most intelligent and sophistically, nuansed series that I have seen.
G I do not know about the rogue thang, far too early amigo. I was shot down several times in most of the 20 odd episodes. Looked like tremendous viewing again. Enjoyed.

It's on demand. Watch it from the first series. Every series impacts on every twist and turn in subsequent series. Absolutely compelling.

Bizarrely just flicked through channels before going to bed at 1.00 and low and behold on BBC4 the first 2 episodes of Line of Duty, Ep.1 Think I will open a splendid bottle of Rioja. Why watch this until 3.00 quaffing fine wine? Because both are splendid, and I can.

Spoiler alert
The naming of H is far too simple for LOD but please don't let it be the Ted fella
It can't be Hastings. If it is I'll greet.

Oaft
How many questions has Line of duty posed tonight?
Trust nobody.

But if it's Hastings Brexit will be off the front pages...
