6th at present, 2 behind 5th.

If the Gunts stay top 6 and we manage it too their last 8 games are

Rangers x 2
Celtic x 1
Killie x 1
Aberdeen x 2
Us x 2

Can we finish higher than 6th?

If we can win our 2 games against Livi and Killie going into derby then 4th isnt out of the question.

We could be above them before ae play them again. Win next and look for 4th.

If we win at Livi we go ahead of them on the Friday night. They then play the Sheep and Orcs...

I think 5th is achievable. Our goal difference tops most the catchable teams above us.

4th is achievable, and would be a magnificent achievement by Heckingbottom. 5th would still be very good, especially above Hearts. 6th will still be a satisfactory start though.

Above hearts and ICT to win the cup would make for a decent season.

Yes, we hun(t) them down, every game that passes, I see a Heckbernian team shaping........

Think that 4th is achievable

7 points off 3rd.
6 points off 4th.
5th after the next round of fixtures.

4th likely to be European qualification this season.

Dream.

Our own fixtures would be 2 x Killie and the Jumbos if we finish top 6 so given the 6 point gap to Killie it’s entirely feasible we could finish 4th. The Guntz are likely distracted by the prospect of a Cup Final so that is in our favour as well. I think Killie will stay above us but wouldn’t be totally shocked if we held our Heckingbottom run of results to finish 4th.

European adventure.....wouldn't that be great!

We are on a bit of a run which unfortunately won’t last for ever. Still think we might get 60 points plus, especially if fixtures land favourably post split. It would be unusual not to get 4th with kind of tally especially as the last five games everyone is taking points off everyone else.

Securing a top six place in itself would be a significant achievement given how things have gone this season. Still got a bit to go to secure that spot though. Livi away will be difficult...many teams have struggled there.

Top six would be great. No other expectation. Think back a few weeks. Feet firmly on the ground. I'm sure PHBs will be.

Folk laughed, kindly, when I said months ago 4th was within our reach.

3rd, Aberdeen, is only one point ahead of 4th just now and our goal difference is better than all these teams up to 2nd.

We're +7 points on eighth where we were when Paul came in. 3rd is +7 points from where we are now. 07 is my lucky number.

I didn't think it would need a change of manager but I'm still going for 4th with a decent shout at 3rd.

Who's laughing now?

Based on the teams in the top six right now, we would likely be at home to hearts and Celtic and away to Rangers, Killie and Aberdeen.

True. We did. Gonna try and get through, might have be an early finish that Friday.

I shouldn't say this but surely a European place is now mathematically possible? and if Thellick win the S Cup that creates another place?

Aye Jock. 4th would take it like last year. We’re 6 points off and play Killie in nearly 2 weeks time.

Or Aberdeen.

Honestly?

I think it's a fundamentally bizarre season, statistically. We haven't been consistent at all, from what I can tell, more of a team that goes on runs (both good and bad) and that's about it. We're now on a good one, and are likely to have a bad one before the season ends.

Given what's gone on, I think a top-six wrap for this season would be fine, and give the new manager a reasonable stance for next year. Any higher than that is obviously possible, so who knows?

Higher than 6th is of course possible, but I've not forgotten where we were at just a few short weeks ago. Target still has to be locking that up, then getting above Hearts.

Based on that I’d say we should be going for a European place.

We are doing great at the moment however, the injuries are of concern, we need some first team players back before the split otherwise it’s just a 6th place imho.

I was predicting 7th when Hecky came in and I didnt think I was being overly pessimistic. Right now anything is possible!

Hearts and Killie have been very inconsistent lately so 4th is entirely possible. Unbelievable considering where we were really.

It would be pleasing to finish above Hearts.

According to my thinking, win the next three games and we'll be third, and I think we'll end the same as last season third.
Hibs finished 4th.

I'd be happy with 4th!

A lot will depend on the post split fixtures.Someone mentioned we are due 3 at home and 2 away
That could mean Aberdeen, Rangers or Killie having to come to ER for a 3rd time. We should be due away to Rangers, Aberdeen and Killie as we’ll have played them twice at home pre split
No idea what the SPFL will do though

4th place finish is in our sights. This has been a peculiar season and we deserve something out of it. Luck we’ve not had much of. Injuries, inconsistency, NL offski.

I’d happily take a win at the bus shelter and finish above those fuckers aswell. Long overdue a win at that shithole.

Win at Livi first though please. Put the top 6 chat to bed.

If we get the points we've got good goal difference if it comes to it. Livi first though and let's hope the international break works in our favour as in getting guys fit and not against us by losing momentum.

What happened to St Johnstone?

What happened to St Johnstone?
Us. We broke them...

What happened to St Johnstone?
They’re on an absolutely shocking run.

Noticed that with Celtic winning at Dundee today, we can't now win the league. Disappointed. Have to settle for second, that is if other teams aren't trying to "wipe us out" and referees give us "protection" and our striker is still able to foul everything above grass and not be booked - ever - for it, and ...

I was pretty impressed by Curtis Main yesterday.
The guy did a first rate impression of the 'real' Mr Blobby (not the guy who owned Meadowbank and turned it into Livi FC) who was a mate of annoying 'celeb' Noel Edmonds and ran about crashing into people for 'entertainment purposes'. Twice that clown of a referee called him over and did the 'pointy thing' which roughly translates to 'look son you fouled there, there, there, there, and there. And there. One more and you're in the book.
Yet he had another half dozen easy before getting subbed.

It's as if referees just accept that some players are thugs and that 'it's just the way he plays' so subject to different rules.
There's loads of them.
Shinnie, Brown, Morelos, etc etc

What happened to St Johnstone?

Best player (their keeper) long-term injured. They've been leaky as hell since he's been out.
