Thoughts? A 5-point gap to St J with, what is it, 9 games remaining? We also have a superior goal difference at the moment.

However, unless we get a result at Celtc Park (which looks as unlikely as it has done for quite some time), we will realistically be looking at 8 points with 8 to play (as I'm assuming St J will beat Hamilton). Even Motherwell might be above us by Weds night close of play.

We have St J to play at McDiarmid, which looks like a must-win if we are to have any chance whatsoever. However, I think we've beaten them once in like 8 games or something.

What's everyone's feeling? (For the record, I don't think we will - we've left ourselves too much to do, and getting beat off Motherwell was fatal)

Unfortunately not. I think we've left ourselves too much. We don't have an idea of our beat side or formation. And no proper first team coach/manager.

Yes if we can get a manager in pronto, find a formation that works best with the players now available and effin stick with it!

Your poll or thread title is misleading.
a. Can we make top 6? Absolutely
b. Will we make top 6? Probably not
'Mon @aggie you're slipping :eusa-dance:

I'd have said we were stick ons for top 6 before the managerial implosion of the last month. If you think about it, if this was coming, far better to have done it after the hearts game and given a new manager a chance to make something of the rest of the season, instead of the self inflicted wounds we have suffered.

The point it came to a head - why couldn't it have waited until the issues of the season were resolved? 10 odd games? It doesn't make sense.

I still think we'll make top six, mind. And I think we'll beat Celtic tomorrow. And win the scottish.

Until it's mathematically impossible then it's possible.

We'd need an upturn in results similar to a year ago. Also, the game against St Johnstone in Perth at the end of the month is pivotal, fail to win that then it's all over. And we don't exactly have a braw record against the saints...

we're coming from back, but the top 8 teams can't all take points off each other. We'll they can it could be all draws, but in essence its not that far back if we can string some wins together.

Nah. The damage is done. Im expecting 7th but hopefully a trip or two to Hampden to make up for the disappointment.

Nae chance. We fucked up big style.

1st poll on the new software. Looks ace. cheers @aggie

Yes.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we do.
Our recent run of results meant that we needed a fantastic finish to the season. The turmoil of Lennon being mutualled makes me think that might be difficult.

I voted 'yes'.

So on your latter point that leaves the board culpable if we don't finish top six. Or will you at least concede that they have some responsibility? And if not then perhaps the executive team?

The 3 games after Celtic are immense and we have to win them all, including beating St. Johnstone, after that we will see.

It’s definitely possible, but I can’t see it happening. As others have said it will probably be 8 points by Wednesday night. St Johnstone are pretty consistent and Motherwell below us are on a good run. We looked like a team without a manager on Saturday and it’s debatable whether we’ll have one in soon.
We live in hope though and while it’s still possible it has to be the aim.

We can... Will we..? Slightly less certain. It'll take a serious effort... Can't believe we have to have this conversation again already

I don't absolve anyone of responsibility - the players haven't performed well, I accept there have been injuries etc, but new guys have not performed as expected. Lennon's management of the last few months hasn't been up to scratch, and maybe the gamble in appointing someone who flies off the handle regularly was a mistake. I'd hold the Board up for that one. I'd also question the timing in 'mutualling' Lennon - but I don't know what the final provocation was.
Personally I would have started looking for a new coach when Lennon started all his nonsense about 'considering his position' and refusing to do press stuff. I thought that was much like Calderwood. His public floggings of Flo were a disgrace too. So maybe the Board or Leeann if she has the power, should have taken a tougher stance.

There you go - I've distributed a bit of blame fairly eh?

and no mention of Tashy

I firmly believe we could have mare the top 6 with a strong window. Given the managerial situation I just don’t see it. Aberdeen showed on saturday the difference is having a decent manager who knows how to get reaults. They have consistency in manager and team selection.

St.Johnstone have lost their last 3 games.Keep that consistency up and we’ll definitely catch them!

A lot in that I agree with.

Two of those games were against Celtic and the other was away at tynecastle. They tend not to lose games they’re expected to win.

:sm113:

Fair point.... can I include Rodders in 'the Board' grouping.
(y)

I think we will get top six, but probably nothing higher.

As long as our new manager can steady the ship, and actually beat St. Johnstone (unlike our previous manager) then the gap isn’t that that big.

Can you no name and shame the voters?
I voted "Yes", but I don't think it's fair to say people who voted "No" should be shamed!

sadly no unless there is a marked turnaround in form

It's a YES vote from me .

*Based on nothing other than blind faith.

Point taken but it may have dented their confidence!
Here’s hoping!

Looks like game at Perth be a must win for us to have a chance

Indeed.
Or a Butcheresque collapse from one of them.

I don't think so. We are going to have to go on a big run of wins and hope St Johnstone keep losing. I can't see either happening I'm afraid. We have looked a bottom six team for most of the season and I think that is where we are going to end up. A total disgrace if it does happen to be honest. The drop in standards from last season has been ridiculous.

Now that was a band and a half for a few months !!

I reckon we’ll edge StJ for a top six place. I also think we’ll pick up a result against the Smellies the morn.

Keep the faith radges!

That is a fact sir. Shameful.
